Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS) Pilani, Goa Campus, and Goa University (GU) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to foster academic and research collaborations. This partnership encompasses joint research projects, workshops, seminars, and conferences. GU and its affiliated colleges will have the opportunity to pursue their PhD programs and project work at BITS Pilani. The agreement also promotes interactions between faculty and students from both institutions.
Under this MoU, faculty from both BITS Pilani and Goa University will collaborate in student supervision and joint research activities in areas of mutual interest. GU and its colleges can send students from various disciplines to BITS Pilani campuses. This collaboration offers GU students the chance to explore research projects at BITS Pilani and be considered for admission to BITS’ PhD programs.
Professor Suman Kundu, Director of BITS Pilani, Goa Campus, emphasized the importance of academic collaborations in providing students with exposure to research topics and diverse faculty support. This partnership is expected to enhance research capabilities and educational opportunities for students in India, aligning with the National Education Policy (NEP).
Professor Harilal B. Menon, Vice Chancellor of Goa University, highlighted the relevance of the MoU for offering technology-driven courses, in line with the NEP-based curriculum. This strategic alliance aims to expand educational possibilities and enhance research initiatives, including cooperative Research and Development (R&D) projects and dual PhD programs. The collaboration extends to all 64 affiliated colleges under Goa University.
