Nikki Haley, a Republican candidate for the 2024 US Presidential elections, made headlines when she reported receiving a birdcage and bird food in her hotel room courtesy of the Trump Campaign, as per The Hill and ANI.
Taking to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Haley shared an image of the birdcage and a bag of food on October 1, accompanied by a sign that read “From: Trump Campaign.” In her social media update, she commented, “Following a day of campaigning, this is the surprise I found in my hotel room… #PrettyPatheticTryAgain #YouJustMadeMyCaseForMe.”
A journalist named Marc Caputo, writing on X, claimed that it was the ‘Trump team’ behind this gesture, but there was no official comment from Trump’s side. Earlier, Donald Trump had referred to Haley as “birdbrain” in a September 29 X post, but Haley’s strong performances in GOP debates had bolstered her position in the presidential race.
Despite the playful jabs, Haley took the situation in stride, suggesting it showcased her campaign’s strength. Her X post read, “Love this. It means we are in 2nd and moving up fast. Bring it!”
Nikki Haley, an Indian American leader, declared her candidacy for the 2024 Republican Presidential nomination earlier this year, emphasizing the need for new leadership in the Republican Party. Her political career included being the first woman elected as governor of her state in 2010, and she served as Trump’s ambassador to the UN from 2017 to 2018 after resigning from her second term as governor.
Haley gained recognition for her decision in 2015 to sign a bill removing the Confederate battle flag, a symbol of the South’s slavery-era past, from the South Carolina House.
