During the event, President Ms. Droupadi Murmu expressed her appreciation for the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show, recognizing it as a significant step in introducing Uttar Pradesh’s products to both the Indian and global markets. She commended the participation of over 2,000 producers showcasing their products and the attendance of more than 400 buyers from 66 countries, envisioning this trade event evolving into a valuable platform for Uttar Pradesh’s manufacturers and entrepreneurs to extend their market presence.
The President specifically lauded the exhibition of various products under the ‘One District One Product’ initiative at this trade expo. She was particularly pleased to witness young entrepreneurs from the state, including women entrepreneurs, showcasing their offerings alongside traditional handicraft-based goods. Emphasizing the importance of greater female participation in entrepreneurship and the workforce, she highlighted the progressive steps taken by the Uttar Pradesh government to promote economic growth and investment.
Ms. Droupadi Murmu pointed out that thanks to streamlined investment procedures, an improved business environment, and accelerated infrastructure development, Uttar Pradesh is currently one of the fastest-growing state-level economies in the country. She expressed optimism that India, fueled by such robust state-level economic performance, would soon surpass the United States to become the world’s third-largest economy.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s leading position with over 96 lakh MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), the President noted that despite being a landlocked state, its exports continue to rise steadily. She noted that the state’s exports had experienced a substantial increase, rising from about Rs. 88,000 crore (equivalent to US$ 10.59 billion) in 2017-18 to approximately Rs. 1,75,000 crore (equivalent to US$ 21.06 billion) in 2022-23.
Ms. Droupadi Murmu stressed that the G20 New Delhi Leaders’ Declaration shares objectives of creating local value, addressing challenges faced by MSMEs, and establishing international connections for MSMEs. She expressed her confidence that the Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show aligns with the goals of the G20, furthering both national and international interests.
