Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the initial phase of the India International Convention and Expo Centre (IICC), also known as YashoBhoomi, situated in Delhi’s Dwarka region. Concurrently, he unveiled an extension of nearly 2 kilometers to the Airport Express line, which connects Dwarka Sector 21 to YashoBhoomi Dwarka Sector 25.
YashoBhoomi, an expansive expo center in Delhi, has earned recognition as one of the world’s largest MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions) facilities. Its operationalization in Dwarka aligns with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of establishing top-tier infrastructure for hosting global-scale meetings, conferences, and exhibitions.
This grand project, developed at a cost of approximately $730 million, boasts an impressive Convention Centre, multiple exhibition halls, and various amenities. The Convention Center features 15 convention rooms, including a Main auditorium, Grand ballroom, and 13 conference rooms, collectively accommodating up to 11,000 delegates across an expansive area exceeding 73,000 square meters. Notably, it showcases the country’s largest LED media facade and a plenary hall for approximately 6,000 people.
Within YashoBhoomi, the exhibition hall ranks among the world’s largest, covering a vast area of 1.07 million square meters, dedicated to trade shows, business events, and exhibitions. Complementary spaces like media rooms, VVIP lounges, cloakrooms, visitor information centers, and ticketing services will be conveniently situated in the foyer.
The Convention Centre’s auditorium offers state-of-the-art automatic seating with versatile configurations, while the Grand Ballroom, distinguished by its unique ceiling, can host up to 2,500 attendees, accompanied by a spacious open area with 500 seats. Advanced security measures have been integrated to ensure utmost safety.
Additionally, YashoBhoomi offers an underground parking facility with over 3,000 parking spaces and more than 100 electric charging points.
The inauguration of the new metro station, “Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25,” seamlessly connects the convention center to the Delhi Airport Metro Express line. The YashoBhoomi metro station features three subways—one linking the station to the convention center, Central Arena, and exhibition halls (spanning 735 meters), another connecting the entry/exit across the Dwarka Motorway, and a third linking the Metro station to the foyer of the upcoming Yashobhoomi exhibition halls.
Moreover, the Delhi Metro aims to shorten the commute between “New Delhi” and “Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25” to about 21 minutes by boosting Metro train speeds on the Airport Express Line from 90 to 120 km/hr.
