As per an announcement on the official Twitter account of the central bank, Mr. Shaktikanta Das, the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, has been awarded an A+ rating in the Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards for the year 2023. Notably, Mr. Das has achieved the highest rating and stands atop the list of just three central bank governors who have been conferred with an A+ rating.
The Global Finance Central Banker Report Cards, an annual publication established since 1994, undertakes the assessment and grading of the performance of central bank governors across 101 significant countries, territories, and regions. This comprehensive evaluation includes entities such as the European Union, the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank, the Bank of Central African States, and the Central Bank of West African States.
Mr. Joseph Giarraputo, the founder and editorial director of Global Finance, acknowledged the current global economic challenges, particularly inflation, driven by pent-up demand and disrupted supply chains. He noted that central bankers worldwide have been under scrutiny as they navigate these complex issues, with expectations of their interventions to address the situation.
In last week’s announcement from Global Finance, Mr. Giarraputo further emphasized that the Central Banker Report Cards serve as a platform to commend central bank governors whose approaches have stood out among their peers due to their originality, creativity, and determination. This recognition reflects their exceptional efforts in managing economic affairs and maintaining financial stability.
