Renowned actor Amitabh Bachchan has shared his perspective on ‘superstitions’, emphasizing that people should avoid believing in them as they often lead individuals astray and shouldn’t be promoted. Amitabh has been an active advocate for various social causes, including his role as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for India’s polio eradication campaign in 2002 and as a supporter of the ‘Save Our Tigers’ initiative.
The veteran actor has also been an influential ‘brand ambassador’ for the Swachh Bharat Mission, contributing to public health campaigns. In 2020, he assisted the government in disseminating Covid-19 public health messages.
During the ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’ season 15, Amitabh welcomed Finance Executive Saurabh Sengupta from Durg, Chhattisgarh, onto the quiz reality show’s hot seat for a ‘KBC Play Along’ special episode. In a discussion about superstitions, Amitabh asked Saurabh if he believed in them. Saurabh shared a personal anecdote about avoiding certain people’s faces on important days and affirmed his belief in superstitions.
Humorously, Amitabh mentioned that his driver believes in superstitions like avoiding a black cat’s path and taking U-turns. He also mentioned the superstition about encountering a snake’s path. However, he emphasized that such beliefs should not be encouraged, as they can misguide and negatively impact individuals.
