Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his admiration for India’s pioneering achievement—the inauguration of its inaugural 3D-printed post office in Bengaluru’s Cambridge Layout. PM Modi hailed this development as a testament to the nation’s innovative spirit and advancements.
On the platform ‘X’ (previously known as Twitter), PM Modi shared his sentiments, stating, “The unveiling of India’s first 3D printed Post Office at Cambridge Layout, Bengaluru, fills every Indian with pride. Symbolizing our nation’s progress and innovation, it embodies the essence of a self-reliant India. My compliments to those who dedicated efforts to bring this Post Office to fruition.”
Earlier in the day, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the groundbreaking 3D-printed post office. This architectural marvel, spanning 1,100 square feet, found its home in Cambridge Layout, situated near Ulsoor market.
During the inauguration ceremony, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the transformative nature of this technological leap for India. He highlighted the nation’s unexpected strides in 4G and 5G technology development, as well as the surprising emergence as a creator and manufacturer of telecom technology. Furthermore, the Minister underscored India’s capacity to design and produce world-class trains, a feat once deemed improbable.
The 3D printing technology employed in constructing this post office is a rapidly emerging method that utilizes computer-aided design to craft three-dimensional objects through a layer-by-layer process. Notably, about a year ago, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in Guwahati showcased the potential of this technology by constructing a 3D-printed sentry post for the Indian Army—a significant milestone in indigenous research and development.
