Indian-origin academics, Jaideep Prabhu, Professor of Marketing at Cambridge Judge, and Sujit Sivasundaram, Professor of World History at the University of Cambridge, have been honored as fellows of the British Academy. This prestigious UK institution annually selects up to 52 exceptional UK-based scholars who have made notable contributions in humanities and social sciences.
Professor Prabhu, Jawaharlal Nehru Professor of Indian Business and Enterprise, is also associated with Clare College. He expressed his excitement about joining distinguished academics, highlighting the collaborative potential of humanities and social sciences in addressing global issues.
Meanwhile, Professor Sivasundaram, a fellow at Gonville and Caius College, focuses on Colombo’s history as a representative of global South cities and the environmental history of the Indian Ocean. He emphasized the collaborative nature of world history research.
Both academics are part of the latest fellowship cohort, showcasing the significance of interdisciplinary research across Social Sciences, Humanities, and the Arts for People and the Economy (SHAPE) disciplines. Professor Julia Black, President of the British Academy, welcomed the new fellows, acknowledging their diverse knowledge and insights contributing to shaping a better world.
