In a thrilling IPL final, the Chennai Super Kings defeated the Gujarat Titans to win their fifth championship. Gujarat, who batted first, scored a staggering 214 runs thanks to a performance by Sai Sudharsan. But CSK maintained their composure as Ravindra Jadeja masterfully won the game with the very last ball.
Due to CSK’s requirement for 10 in the final two balls, the game was quite close. MS Dhoni, 41, went in search of a duck but was unable to work any magic. Ravindra Jadeja, though, stood tall and dealt Gujarat’s dreams a crushing blow. He first blasted Mohit over the long on for a six, and then he struck a four to the leg side to make history as CSK tied Mumbai Indians for the most IPL titles with five.
Dhoni, who is often cool and collected on the field, was unable to control his emotions and hoisted Jadeja as other CSK players joined in. It is unknown how things turned out for the former Indians captain, who may be playing his final game in yellow.
Earlier, after losing the toss and being asked to bat first, the Gujarat Titans hammered a massive 214/4 in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan contributed significantly to his team’s record-breaking score by scoring 96 runs off just 47 balls. A half-century was also achieved by Wriddhiman Saha. But just after the second inning began, rain forced a halt to the game. The objective was subsequently changed to 171 runs in 15 overs for CSK. To win their sixth championship, they went for it.
