Natasha Perianayagam, an Indian-American student, was nominated to the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth’s list of the “world’s brightest” pupils for the second year in a row based on the results of exams taken by more than 15,000 students from 76 different countries and above grade level.
13-year-old Perianayagam attends Florence M. Gaudineer Middle School in New Jersey. In the spring of 2021, while she was in Grade 5, she also took the Johns Hopkins Center For Talented Youth (CTY) exam.
Her verbal and quantitative test scores were on par with the 90th percentile for advanced Grade 8 achievement, propelling her to the honors list for the year.
The institution stated in a news statement on February 6 that she was honored this year for her outstanding achievement on the SAT, ACT, School and College Ability Test, or comparable test that was taken as part of the CTY Talent Search.
Perianayagam, whose parents are from Chennai, revealed that in her free time, she enjoys drawing and reading JRR Tolkien’s books. In order to identify gifted kids from around the world and give a clear picture of their academic ability, CTY conducted above-grade-level testing.
Perianayagam joined CTY in the 2021–22 Talent Search year together with 15,300 other students from 76 other countries, according to a university press release. Only 27 percent of those individuals met the requirements to participate in the CTY ceremony, earning either high or grand honors based on their exam results.
