US-based semiconductor giant Marvell Technology has unveiled plans to invest $250 million in India over the next three years, marking a significant step in strengthening its research and development capabilities across the country. The investment is aimed at expanding engineering talent, upgrading infrastructure, and accelerating innovation in advanced semiconductor technologies as India continues to emerge as a major global technology hub.
The announcement comes as Marvell celebrates two decades of operations in India. As part of its long-term growth strategy, the company also intends to double its workforce during the same three-year period, reflecting its increasing reliance on Indian engineering expertise to drive cutting-edge semiconductor development.
To support this expansion, Marvell will open a new wing at its Bengaluru campus while growing its operations in Hyderabad. These facilities will focus on designing and developing next-generation semiconductor technologies that power artificial intelligence, cloud computing platforms, and high-performance data infrastructure. The company believes these investments will further strengthen its ability to meet the growing demand for advanced digital infrastructure worldwide.
Navin Bishnoi, Vice President and India Country Manager at Marvell Technology, highlighted the importance of the company’s Indian operations, describing the country as a key center for engineering excellence. He noted that teams based in India contribute significantly to developing infrastructure technologies that support many of the world’s largest hyperscale data centers and cloud service providers. Bishnoi also acknowledged the contributions of customers, business partners, government agencies, academic institutions, and employees in helping Marvell expand its presence and innovation capabilities in the country.
Marvell launched its India operations in Bengaluru in 2006 and has since transformed the country into its second-largest global research and development base. Today, the company operates major engineering centers in Bengaluru, Pune, and Hyderabad, where experts work on advanced semiconductor solutions, including 2-nanometer process technologies, high-speed analog intellectual property, subsystem architecture, software and firmware engineering, and complete silicon design.
Beyond expanding its own operations, Marvell plans to continue supporting India’s broader semiconductor ecosystem by collaborating with universities, startups, industry organizations, and government bodies. The company believes these partnerships will help nurture innovation, develop skilled talent, and contribute to the continued growth of India’s semiconductor industry while reinforcing its position in the global technology supply chain.
