External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has unveiled a new publication titled We The People – 250 Voices that Shaped US-India Relationship, celebrating the individuals whose work has played a significant role in strengthening ties between India and the United States. Published by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF), the book highlights the enduring collaboration between the two democracies through the stories of influential personalities from various fields.
Sharing the news on social media, Jaishankar described the launch as a meaningful occasion and expressed appreciation for the diverse community of individuals who have invested their efforts in deepening bilateral relations. He noted that the publication recognizes the contributions of people whose dedication has helped build a stronger and more dynamic partnership between the two nations over several decades.
US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor also attended the event and praised the initiative, stating that the book honors 250 remarkable voices whose achievements have shaped the India-US relationship. He acknowledged USISPF’s continued efforts to expand cooperation between the two countries and emphasized the importance of recognizing those who have influenced the partnership through leadership, innovation, and public service.
The coffee table book features personalities from a broad spectrum of professions, including diplomats, political leaders, entrepreneurs, academics, scientists, artists, architects, engineers, healthcare professionals, and social activists. It pays tribute to both living and deceased individuals whose work has contributed to advancing cooperation in areas such as diplomacy, business, education, technology, and culture.
This latest edition follows USISPF’s 2022 publication, We The People – 75 Years of U.S.-India Relations, which commemorated India’s 75th year of independence while reflecting on more than seven decades of diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The book’s release comes shortly after Jaishankar met US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Manila during the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Their discussions covered a wide range of strategic issues, including developments in the Middle East and the Indo-Pacific region, while reviewing progress on defense initiatives agreed upon during earlier discussions between President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The two leaders also emphasized the importance of concluding an interim bilateral trade agreement, describing negotiations as being in their final stages. Jaishankar later stated that the meeting reaffirmed both countries’ commitment to advancing the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership, with continued collaboration through forums such as the QUAD remaining a key priority.
