Indian American Impact has congratulated Dr. Amish Shah on securing victory in the Democratic primary for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, marking a significant milestone in his campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.
The organization praised Shah’s grassroots approach, highlighting his efforts to connect directly with thousands of voters across the district. According to Indian American Impact Executive Director Chintan Patel, Shah’s campaign successfully resonated with voters seeking change and new leadership.
Patel said Shah has spent his career advocating for issues affecting working families, including reducing living costs, protecting immigrant rights, and addressing concerns related to extremism. If Shah wins the general election in November, he would make history as the first South Asian American to represent Arizona in Congress.
Indian American Impact played an active role in supporting Shah’s primary campaign, investing $250,000 in the race. The organization identified Arizona’s 1st Congressional District as one of the key opportunities for Democrats seeking to regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The group said it plans to continue supporting Shah through the upcoming election campaign, viewing his candidacy as an important step toward increasing South Asian American representation in national politics.
Founded in 2016, Indian American Impact has become a prominent organization focused on expanding political engagement and representation among Indian and South Asian Americans across the United States. Over the years, it has supported more than 200 candidates nationwide through campaign assistance, grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and policy advocacy.
The organization has also helped mobilize significant financial resources, directing nearly $20 million toward candidates and civic initiatives aimed at strengthening the voice of the South Asian American community in American politics.
Shah’s primary victory reflects the growing influence of Indian Americans in U.S. public life, as members of the community continue to gain representation across government, business, healthcare, technology, and other sectors. His campaign now moves toward the November general election, where he will seek to secure a historic place in Arizona’s congressional history.
