Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday extended greetings to doctors and chartered accountants on the occasion of Doctors’ Day and Chartered Accountants’ Day, acknowledging their vital contributions to India’s development and public welfare.
In his message, the Prime Minister praised doctors and healthcare professionals for their dedication, compassion, and service, noting that their efforts continue to earn the trust and gratitude of millions across the country. He also highlighted the role of Indian medical professionals currently assisting in earthquake-affected Venezuela under “Operation Amistad,” commending their commitment to serving people in difficult and crisis situations.
Modi said that as India progresses towards the vision of a developed nation, or “Viksit Bharat,” doctors will remain central to strengthening preventive healthcare, advancing medical research, adopting innovation, and ensuring that quality and affordable healthcare is accessible to all citizens.
He further noted that over the past decade, India has made significant progress in expanding its healthcare infrastructure. According to him, the number of medical colleges in the country has more than doubled, while both undergraduate and postgraduate medical seats have increased substantially. This expansion, he said, is creating greater opportunities for aspiring doctors while also strengthening the overall healthcare workforce.
In a separate message, the Prime Minister also conveyed greetings to the chartered accountant community, describing them as important partners in India’s economic growth journey. He said CAs play a crucial role in maintaining transparency, strengthening financial systems, and supporting business development across the country.
Modi added that the professional excellence of chartered accountants helps encourage entrepreneurship, boost investor confidence, and contribute significantly to economic stability and growth. Their work, he said, supports the broader goal of nation-building by enabling an environment where businesses can expand and opportunities can flourish.
The Prime Minister concluded by acknowledging the long-standing contribution of both doctors and chartered accountants, stating that their respective roles remain essential in advancing India’s healthcare system and economic progress as the country moves toward its development goals.
