The Ministry of Civil Aviation, in partnership with Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), has launched AIR SUVIDHA 2.0, an upgraded digital platform designed to modernize health screening for international passengers entering India. The contactless system aims to reinforce public health surveillance at airports across the country, especially amid growing global concern over an Ebola-related outbreak.
The initiative has been developed in coordination with the Directorate General of Health Services under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. It follows the World Health Organization’s declaration of the Ebola/Bundibugyo virus disease outbreak in parts of Africa as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern on May 17, 2026. The situation has raised concerns due to the potential spread of infection across neighboring regions.
Health authorities have identified the outbreak as Bundibugyo virus disease, with nearby countries assessed as being at elevated risk of transmission. In response, India has strengthened its border health monitoring systems to ensure early detection and rapid response at points of entry.
Under the new AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 system, all international travelers arriving in India must complete an online Health Self-Declaration before they are cleared through immigration. The form requires passengers to provide detailed information, including their travel history for the past 21 days, exposure to any risk areas, and any symptoms they may be experiencing.
The system enables instant data sharing with key authorities such as Airport Health Officers, immigration officials, the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme, and state-level surveillance teams. This real-time coordination is designed to quickly identify potential health risks while maintaining a smooth, contactless arrival process for passengers.
Travelers can complete the declaration form up to 24 hours before arrival in India. Authorities have advised passengers to fill it out during web check-in or before boarding and to keep a copy ready for verification at airport health or immigration counters upon arrival.
The government has urged all international passengers to provide accurate health details in advance to support faster clearance and improve overall safety measures. AIR SUVIDHA 2.0 is expected to enhance India’s preparedness against potential health threats while ensuring efficient airport operations and streamlined passenger movement.
