Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla, backed by entrepreneur Elon Musk, has expanded its presence in India by opening its first experience center in Bengaluru’s Whitefield area. The move represents a significant milestone in the company’s broader strategy to strengthen its footprint in one of the world’s fastest-growing electric mobility markets.
Located in Bengaluru’s prominent technology district, the new facility will allow customers to explore Tesla’s electric vehicle lineup, including the popular Model Y and the newly introduced Model Y L. Company officials stated that the experience center has been designed to provide potential buyers with hands-on access to Tesla’s latest innovations and advanced electric vehicle technology.
Tesla revealed that the Model Y L, a six-seater electric SUV aimed at larger families and premium buyers, will be available at a starting price of approximately $74,000. The launch reflects the company’s efforts to attract Indian consumers seeking luxury electric vehicles with advanced features and extended driving range.
Alongside the new showroom, Tesla also introduced an after-sales service network in Whitefield to improve customer support and ownership experience in Bengaluru. The company said the service expansion comes as interest in electric mobility continues to rise rapidly across India, particularly in urban technology hubs where demand for sustainable transportation solutions is increasing.
Tesla further highlighted the performance capabilities of its charging infrastructure, stating that the Model Y L can gain nearly 179 miles of driving range in just 15 minutes using Tesla’s Supercharging network. The company believes the fast-charging technology will help reduce concerns around charging convenience and encourage wider adoption of electric vehicles in the country.
Customers can now place orders for the Model Y L directly through Tesla’s official website as the company begins scaling its operations in India.
The Bengaluru launch adds to Tesla’s growing retail presence across major Indian cities. The company already operates experience centers in Mumbai’s Bandra Kurla Complex, Delhi’s Aerocity, and Gurugram, signaling a broader push to establish a nationwide electric vehicle ecosystem.
Industry analysts view Tesla’s continued expansion in India as a strong indicator of the country’s rising importance in the global electric vehicle market. With increasing government focus on clean energy and sustainable transportation, global automakers are accelerating investments in India’s EV sector to capture future growth opportunities.
