India has highlighted the urgent need to restore peace and stability in West Asia while supporting ongoing diplomatic efforts to end the conflict, according to statements from Iran’s Foreign Ministry. The position was conveyed during a recent phone conversation between India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
The discussion focused on the rapidly evolving situation in the region, which has seen rising tensions and growing concerns about a wider conflict. During the call, Araghchi raised serious allegations against the United States and Israel, accusing them of carrying out attacks targeting Iran’s industrial facilities, production centers, and safeguarded nuclear sites. He also pointed to strong statements from US officials that he described as threats to Iran’s energy infrastructure.
Araghchi emphasized that the international community, including global institutions, must take responsibility for addressing violations of international law. He warned against allowing such actions to become normalized and stressed the importance of preventing further escalation. He also underlined Iran’s determination to protect its national interests and security, cautioning that continued military actions could have far-reaching consequences for both regional and global stability.
In response, Jaishankar reiterated India’s concern over the situation and stressed the importance of maintaining stability in West Asia. He expressed support for both regional and international initiatives aimed at bringing an end to the conflict through dialogue and cooperation.
Earlier, Jaishankar had acknowledged the conversation publicly, stating that the two leaders discussed the current developments in the region, though he did not share detailed specifics.
The exchange comes at a time of heightened uncertainty in West Asia, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz, which is a vital route for global oil shipments valued in millions of dollars. Increased military presence and strong rhetoric from multiple sides have raised fears of disruptions that could impact global energy markets and economic stability.
