The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) and the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) formalized a strategic partnership by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Monday in New Delhi. The MoU, inked during the India-Canada Business Roundtable, aims to reinforce institutional ties between the two organizations and enhance collaboration between the business communities of India and Canada.
The agreement provides a framework for ASSOCHAM and ICCC to work together to promote trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation among their members. It seeks to facilitate new avenues for business engagement by encouraging organizations in both countries to explore opportunities for joint ventures, production partnerships, and cross-border investment.
As part of the MoU, both organizations will focus on exchanging information related to trade policies, economic regulations, and investment opportunities in India and Canada. The partnership also emphasizes active participation in trade missions, business delegations, exhibitions, and other initiatives that foster collaboration. Additionally, the MoU encourages the organization of seminars, conferences, and workshops to facilitate dialogue and knowledge-sharing between stakeholders.
The signing ceremony was attended by key industry leaders and stakeholders from both nations. Highlights of the roundtable included speeches from Anil K. Agarwal, Past President & Chairman of ASSOCHAM International Council, Kam Rathee, Chair of the Advisory Board of ICCC, and Prashant Srivastava, President of ICCC. Industry perspectives were shared by Kunwar Shekhar Vijendra, Chairman of the ASSOCHAM National Council on Education.
The event also featured a special address by Ed Jager, Trade Commissioner from the High Commission of Canada to India, followed by a keynote from Nina Tangri, Associate Minister of Small Business, Government of Ontario. The MoU underscores the commitment of both organizations to deepen bilateral economic ties and create stronger business linkages between India and Canada.
