Aditya Dhar’s upcoming spy thriller Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, starring Ranveer Singh, is already generating significant excitement ahead of its theatrical release. Even before hitting cinemas, the film has created strong buzz among audiences, reflected in the impressive response to its advance ticket sales.
The makers opened bookings for paid preview shows on March eighteen, the same day the film’s highly anticipated trailer was released. The official theatrical release is scheduled for March nineteen, coinciding with major festivals including Eid, Gudi Padwa, and Ugadi, which is expected to boost audience turnout across several regions in India.
Within the first twenty four hours after bookings began, the film reportedly sold more than one hundred thousand tickets. The momentum continued quickly, and within just two days the number of tickets sold crossed two hundred thousand, highlighting strong interest from moviegoers across the country.
Although the pace of bookings slowed slightly on Monday, the film still managed to sell an additional seventy two thousand tickets in a single day. These sales generated approximately three million dollars in revenue from paid preview bookings. With these latest numbers, total ticket sales for preview screenings across India have climbed to nearly two hundred eighty thousand.
Industry tracking platform Sacnilk estimates that the advance booking revenue from preview shows alone has reached roughly sixteen million dollars. When block bookings by exhibitors and distributors are included, the total collection rises to nearly twenty one million dollars.
These figures place Dhurandhar 2 close to surpassing the current record for the largest premiere earnings for an Indian film. The benchmark is currently held by the Telugu action film They Call Him OG, directed by Sujeeth and starring Pawan Kalyan, which reportedly generated about twenty five million dollars through paid preview screenings.
If the present booking trend continues, analysts believe the Ranveer Singh starrer could potentially exceed thirty five million dollars from preview screenings before its official release. With around ten days remaining before the premiere and the main opening weekend bookings yet to begin, the total revenue is expected to grow further.
Most of the advance booking revenue has come from the Hindi version of the film, which has generated approximately fifteen million dollars by selling around two hundred sixty thousand tickets in India. The Tamil dubbed version has contributed about zero point two million dollars, while the Telugu version has earned roughly zero point one million dollars through its advance sales.
The film may also benefit from reduced competition at the box office after the postponement of actor Yash’s film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grownups. The movie was initially scheduled to release on March nineteen but has now been delayed to June four, potentially giving Dhurandhar 2 a clearer path for a strong opening at cinemas.
