Slovakia’s President Peter Pellegrini described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “historic milestone” for India-Slovakia relations and congratulated India for hosting the well-organized India AI Impact Summit 2026.
The bilateral discussions, held at Hyderabad House during the summit, covered trade, investment, digital technologies, defence, space, energy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that both leaders welcomed the momentum created by the India-EU Free Trade Agreement and the India-EU Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2030, agreeing to deepen cooperation, particularly in the digital sector.
Pellegrini highlighted that this visit marked the first-ever reception of a Slovak Head of State in India, calling it a major step forward in bilateral engagement. In a post on X, he praised the summit for uniting global leaders, innovators, and businesses to promote responsible AI development. “We agreed AI must be democratised to benefit all people, not just a select few,” he said.
The India AI Impact Summit 2026, themed “Welfare for all, happiness of all,” is structured around three pillars — People, Planet, and Progress — with seven working groups addressing economic growth, social good, safe and trusted AI, human capital, science, and resilience. More than 500 global AI leaders, including CEOs, founders, academics, and policymakers, are participating in the event, reinforcing India’s position as a global AI leader committed to inclusive and responsible technological development.
