India and Liechtenstein agreed to intensify cooperation in high-value manufacturing, advanced technologies, and innovation-driven sectors during a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prince Alois, the Hereditary Prince of Liechtenstein, on the sidelines of the AI Impact Summit 2026 in New Delhi.
Following their discussions, PM Modi highlighted the potential for strengthened economic linkages between the two nations, particularly after the entry into force of the India-TEPA Free Trade Agreement in October 2025. Both leaders expressed confidence that the TEPA framework would encourage up to $100 billion in investment into India over the next 15 years.
Prince Alois attended the summit at the invitation of PM Modi, and the meeting underscored the cordial and friendly relations shared by India and Liechtenstein. The two leaders agreed to focus on deepening partnerships in areas such as research and development, technology, innovation, skilling, and high-value manufacturing.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) noted that the discussions marked a significant step in further strengthening the India-Liechtenstein partnership while reaffirming both nations’ commitment to mutually beneficial collaboration.
Liechtenstein, Europe’s fourth smallest country and the world’s sixth smallest, is situated between Switzerland and Austria. Diplomatic ties with India were established in 1993, with India’s ambassador to Switzerland concurrently accredited to Liechtenstein. In 2023, India and Liechtenstein celebrated 30 years of bilateral diplomatic relations.
