President Peter Pellegrini of Slovakia described his meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a “historic milestone” in bilateral relations, marking a new chapter in cooperation between the two nations. The leaders met on the sidelines of the India AI Impact Summit, where discussions focused on expanding strategic and economic engagement.
During their talks, both sides reviewed the full spectrum of India-Slovakia relations and explored opportunities to strengthen collaboration in trade, investment, digital technologies, defence, space, energy, culture, and people-to-people exchanges. The conversation reflected a shared intent to deepen engagement across both traditional and emerging sectors.
The two leaders welcomed the renewed momentum generated by the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement and the Joint Comprehensive Strategic Agenda 2030. They agreed that these frameworks provide a strong foundation to accelerate bilateral cooperation, particularly in digital innovation and advanced technologies.
President Pellegrini congratulated Prime Minister Modi on hosting what he described as an exceptionally well-organised India AI Impact Summit. He emphasized that artificial intelligence must be democratised to ensure its benefits are shared broadly rather than concentrated among a few stakeholders. Both leaders highlighted the importance of responsible AI development, secure technological ecosystems, and collaborative innovation.
The discussions also produced a focus on tangible outcomes in trade and investment. Greater cooperation in secure technology, talent mobility, academic partnerships, and expert exchanges—particularly in the energy sector—was identified as a priority. Strengthening innovation networks and promoting knowledge-sharing were seen as key drivers of future growth.
The India AI Impact Summit centers on the theme of welfare and inclusive progress. Anchored around pillars of People, Planet, and Progress, it aims to demonstrate how artificial intelligence can promote economic growth, social empowerment, resilience, and sustainability. Seven working groups are tasked with delivering sector-specific outcomes spanning economic development, safe and trusted AI, human capital formation, and scientific advancement.
With participation from global industry leaders, researchers, policymakers, and heads of state, the summit underscores India’s ambition to position itself as a leading voice in shaping responsible and inclusive AI governance.
The meeting between the two leaders signals a shared commitment to translating diplomatic goodwill into measurable cooperation. By aligning economic strategy with technological collaboration, India and Slovakia appear poised to elevate their partnership to a more strategic and future-oriented level.
