India and Argentina have held discussions to strengthen defence cooperation, with both sides agreeing to explore new opportunities to deepen bilateral ties. The talks reflected a shared commitment to expanding collaboration in defence and strategic domains.
India’s Ambassador to Argentina met Argentina’s Minister of Defence to review existing defence relations and discuss future areas of cooperation. Both sides agreed to move forward with the signing of a cooperation agreement on defence matters at the earliest opportunity, signalling growing strategic trust between the two nations.
The Indian side also briefed Argentine leadership on the arrival of the Indian Army Sailing Vessel Triveni in Buenos Aires. The visit of the vessel marks a historic moment, as it is crewed by an all-women tri-service team undertaking a global circumnavigation mission.
The Indian Embassy highlighted that the voyage symbolises jointness and synergy among the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The mission represents a milestone for the Indian Armed Forces and showcases the growing role of women in uniform on the global stage.
The IASV Triveni is crewed by officers from all three services, reflecting integrated military cooperation and operational unity. The expedition covers more than 26,000 nautical miles, crossing major oceans and navigating some of the world’s most challenging maritime routes, testing endurance, leadership, and resilience.
The visit of the vessel to Argentina also underlines India’s expanding maritime outreach and defence diplomacy in Latin America. It highlights India’s emphasis on strategic partnerships beyond its immediate region, rooted in mutual respect and cooperation.
