Uber has announced the appointment of Balaji Krishnamurthy as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective February 16, 2026, following the resignation of current CFO Prashanth Mahendra-Rajah. Mahendra-Rajah will continue with the company as a senior finance advisor to CEO Dara Khosrowshahi until July 1, 2026.
Krishnamurthy, 41, has been with Uber since 2019, serving in multiple leadership roles, including Vice President of Strategic Finance since 2023 and previously as Head of Investor Relations from 2020 to 2023. A graduate of Manipal Institute of Technology, he holds an MBA from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon, and completed an exchange program at Copenhagen Business School.
CEO Dara Khosrowshahi praised Krishnamurthy as a trusted strategist, highlighting his deep understanding of Uber’s business and strong investor relationships. “He has worked closely with me and our management team for years, and I am thrilled for him to step up as CFO as we kick off another big year for Uber,” Khosrowshahi said.
Krishnamurthy expressed enthusiasm for his new role, stating, “It is an honour to step into this important role at such an important time for Uber. With strong cash flows and a leadership position in global mobility and delivery, we have an opportunity to further solidify Uber as a generational technology company.”
According to regulatory filings, Krishnamurthy will receive an annual base salary of $600,000. He is eligible for the company’s executive bonus plan and will also receive restricted stock unit (RSU) awards totaling $9.37 million, an option to purchase $3.12 million of Uber common stock, and a one-time RSU grant of $5 million, all subject to time-based and performance-based vesting conditions.
Khosrowshahi also thanked Mahendra-Rajah for his contributions, noting his role in achieving investment-grade status, leading Uber’s first share repurchase program, and guiding the company through several major acquisitions. “We all wish him the best in an exciting new opportunity that he will share more about soon,” he added.
With Krishnamurthy stepping into the CFO role, Uber aims to strengthen its financial leadership and strategic planning as it continues to expand its global mobility and delivery business.
