The Indian Embassy in Yemen marked a significant milestone by celebrating the 77th Republic Day for the first time in more than a decade. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from the Indian diaspora, reflecting the community’s enduring patriotism and cultural pride despite being abroad. Embassy officials shared updates on X, highlighting the ceremonial hoisting of the Indian flag and the joyous involvement of both embassy staff and local Indian residents in Aden.
India’s 77th Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, were a grand display of military precision and cultural richness at Kartavya Path in New Delhi. The parade, a highlight of the nation’s calendar, featured a vibrant mix of India’s armed forces, technological prowess, and cultural tableaux representing the country’s diversity and heritage.
The celebrations were made even more remarkable by the presence of European dignitaries as chief guests. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Luis Santos da Costa attended the Republic Day parade, marking a historic moment in India’s diplomatic engagements. Their visit, part of a state tour from January 25–27, underscored the strengthening ties between India and the European Union.
Following the parade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi followed his tradition of walking along Kartavya Path, greeting spectators who had gathered to witness the festivities. The ceremonial proceedings concluded with President Droupadi Murmu, along with the visiting European leaders, escorted by the President’s Bodyguard, known as ‘Rashtrapati Ke Angrakshak,’ back to Rashtrapati Bhavan.
