Aditya Dhar’s action-thriller Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, continues to dominate the box office, grossing over $10 million in India. Released on December 5, 2023, the film has maintained strong performance despite weekly competition from new releases. Its star-studded ensemble—including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal, and R. Madhavan—has helped make it one of the top-grossing Hindi films of the year.
Following a successful theatrical run, attention has shifted to the film’s digital premiere. According to OTTplay, Dhurandhar will begin streaming on Netflix from January 30, 2026, offering audiences a chance to experience the espionage thriller from home. Analysts note that the online release was strategically delayed to maximize box office returns before transitioning to streaming.
Earlier plans to release dubbed versions in South Indian languages were considered but abandoned due to packed Christmas-season theater schedules. Consequently, the focus moved toward a direct-to-OTT approach, with Netflix emerging as the chosen platform for a wider audience.
The digital rights deal has attracted significant attention in the film industry. Sacnilk reports that Netflix has acquired the streaming rights for both Dhurandhar and its upcoming sequel, Dhurandhar 2, slated for a 2026 release. The combined agreement is reportedly worth around $1.57 million, making it one of the highest-value OTT deals for a Hindi film to date.
Industry observers regard this milestone as a major achievement for Ranveer Singh, showcasing his consistent box office appeal and expanding influence in the digital entertainment space. With the sequel on the horizon and a strong streaming partnership in place, the Dhurandhar franchise is poised to remain a key player in both theatrical and digital markets for Hindi cinema.
