rime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized on Thursday that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between India and Oman serves as a “blueprint for a shared future,” setting the stage for long-term growth in bilateral relations. Speaking at the India-Oman Business Summit, he described the agreement as a historic decision whose impact will be felt for decades. “CEPA will bring renewed trust and energy to our 21st-century partnership. It will expand trade, inspire investment, and create fresh opportunities across all sectors,” PM Modi stated.
He encouraged business leaders from both countries to harness the momentum of the summit to strengthen trade and investment ties. “Our people have a deep understanding of each other’s markets, built over generations of mutual trust. This summit offers a chance to give India-Oman relations new direction, speed, and heights, and you, as business leaders, are central to this progress,” he added.
Highlighting the enduring trade heritage between India and Oman, PM Modi noted that commerce between the two nations has flourished for centuries. “From the earliest civilizations, maritime trade has connected our lands. The Arabian Sea, stretching from Mandvi to Muscat, has been a bridge linking our peoples. While the seasons change and waves rise and fall, the friendship between India and Oman continues to strengthen and reach new heights,” he said.
PM Modi also emphasized that the India-Oman relationship is grounded in trust and has grown steadily over seven decades of diplomatic engagement. “Our connection is built on trust, strengthened by friendship, and deepened over time. India’s rise is not only beneficial for the country itself but also for our partners. Whenever India grows, it helps its friends flourish as well,” he remarked.
With India progressing toward becoming the world’s third-largest economy, PM Modi pointed out that this growth is advantageous for global partners, particularly Oman, given their close friendship and maritime proximity. In a social media post, he described Oman as a land of enduring friendship and historical ties with India, noting that his visit opens doors to explore new areas of cooperation and energize bilateral relations.
The CEPA is expected to unlock billions in trade opportunities, enhance investments in multiple sectors, and solidify the India-Oman partnership as a model for sustainable economic collaboration in the 21st century.
