The agreements were announced during Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal’s high-level visit to Finland, highlighting the growing importance of bilateral economic engagement between the two nations.

The visit comes after India and Finland elevated their relationship to a Strategic Partnership in Digitalisation and Sustainability in March 2026. It also follows the conclusion of the India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA), which is expected to create new opportunities for businesses, investment flows, and innovation-driven cooperation.

During his discussions with Finland’s Minister of Economic Affairs Dr. Sakari Puisto, Piyush Goyal focused on strengthening collaboration in financial markets, innovation, enterprise financing, and expanding bilateral trade opportunities. Both sides explored ways to encourage greater participation from companies and create a stronger business ecosystem.

Two significant MoUs were signed between the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and Business Finland, as well as between CII and the Confederation of Finnish Industries (EK). These agreements are designed to improve institutional cooperation, support business partnerships, and encourage companies from both countries to explore new opportunities.

Indian and Finnish businesses also discussed potential partnerships in emerging and high-growth sectors, including digital technologies, space, clean energy, bioeconomy, circular economy, infrastructure, and advanced manufacturing. The collaboration aims to promote innovation and create new avenues for sustainable economic growth.

During the visit, Goyal emphasized the shared goal of India and Finland to double bilateral trade by 2030. He highlighted that the India-EU FTA could further support expansion in areas such as manufacturing, investment, technology development, and innovation-based industries.

The strengthening of India-Finland economic ties reflects both countries’ commitment to building a long-term partnership focused on sustainability, technology, and business growth. The newly signed agreements are expected to enhance cooperation between industries and open new possibilities for companies seeking global expansion.

The post India, Finland Boost Trade and Investment Ties first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Outgoing United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) Representative to India, Takayuki Hagiwara, met with Ministry of External Affairs Secretary (West) Sibi George in New Delhi as he concluded his diplomatic assignment in the country.

During the farewell meeting, George expressed appreciation for Hagiwara’s efforts in advancing FAO’s initiatives in India and recognized his contributions to strengthening cooperation between the organization and the country. The Ministry of External Affairs stated that the secretary thanked Hagiwara for his dedicated service and wished him success, good health, and continued achievements in his future responsibilities.

Hagiwara has been associated with the FAO since 2003 and has built extensive experience in natural resources management over the past 25 years. Before assuming the role of FAO Representative in India, he served as Regional Programme Leader at the FAO Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific, overseeing programs focused on sustainable agricultural development and resource management.

The meeting also reflected the broader partnership between India and the FAO, which has continued to expand through initiatives promoting food security, agricultural innovation, and sustainable farming practices.

Earlier this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the 2026 Agricola Medal, the FAO’s highest honor, during a ceremony at the organization’s headquarters. FAO Director-General Qu Dongyu presented the award in recognition of the Prime Minister’s contributions to agriculture, food security, and farmer welfare.

Qu Dongyu commended India’s agricultural reforms and highlighted several major initiatives introduced under the government’s leadership. These included programs aimed at expanding financial inclusion, providing food assistance to nearly 800 million people since the COVID-19 pandemic, and delivering direct income support to more than 110 million farmers.

The FAO chief also praised India’s efforts to promote regenerative and natural farming while recognizing the country’s leadership in bringing global attention to nutrient-rich millets through the International Year of Millets initiative. He further acknowledged India’s focus on digital public infrastructure during its G20 Presidency, describing it as an important step toward improving access to technology and public services in developing nations.

The farewell meeting between Hagiwara and the MEA underscores the continued collaboration between India and the FAO as both sides work to advance sustainable agriculture, strengthen food systems, and improve global food security.

The post FAO India Chief Meets MEA Secretary Before Exit first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday unveiled a series of rail and road infrastructure projects valued at approximately $637 million during a visit to Jalandhar, Punjab. The initiatives are aimed at improving transportation networks, enhancing passenger facilities, and supporting economic growth across the region.

Among the major announcements was the inauguration of 75 modernized railway stations spread across 20 states under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. Redeveloped at an estimated cost of $183 million, the stations now feature upgraded passenger amenities while incorporating architectural elements inspired by local culture, heritage, and regional traditions. Four of these stations are located in Punjab, including Jalandhar Cantonment, S.A.S. Nagar (Mohali), Sri Muktsar Sahib, and Sri Anandpur Sahib.

The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Daulatpur Chowk-Kartoli rail line, a project valued at approximately $97 million. The new railway corridor forms part of the larger Nangal Dam-Talwara-Mukerian rail project and is expected to strengthen connectivity between Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. Officials said the line will improve access to districts such as Hoshiarpur and Una while making travel to religious destinations, including Shri Anandpur Sahib and Maa Chintpurni Temple, faster and more convenient.

Further expanding regional rail services, Modi flagged off the Kartoli-Ambala train, which is expected to improve transportation links across Punjab, Haryana, and Himachal Pradesh. He also launched the Amritsar (Chheharta)-Varanasi Sant Ravidas Express, creating a direct rail connection between two important spiritual centers. The service fulfills a long-standing demand of the Ravidassia community ahead of Guru Ravidas’s 650th birth anniversary celebrations in Varanasi.

In addition to railway developments, the Prime Minister inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for national highway projects worth more than $358 million. These included the opening of a 30.9-kilometer section of the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra Expressway, which is expected to reduce travel time, improve freight movement, lower fuel consumption, and decrease transportation costs.

Modi also laid the foundation stone for the Southern Ludhiana Bypass, a 25.2-kilometer six-lane greenfield highway designed to improve connectivity between Ludhiana and Bathinda while providing smoother access to key commercial hubs.

The Prime Minister arrived in Jalandhar after inaugurating projects in Chandigarh and flagging off India’s first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana. Collectively, the newly launched transportation projects are expected to strengthen regional connectivity, improve travel efficiency, and contribute to Punjab’s long-term economic and infrastructure development.

The post Modi launches major rail, road projects in Jalandhar first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

India’s food processing industry is on track to become a $600 billion market by 2030, according to a joint report released by FICCI and Deloitte. The study, unveiled during FICCI Foodworld India 2026, outlines how the sector is evolving into a more consumer-focused and value-driven industry, supported by technological innovation, higher value addition, and stronger export opportunities.

The report indicates that India’s processed food market is expected to witness substantial expansion over the coming years. Increased food processing capacity, improved manufacturing capabilities, wider distribution channels, and growing international demand are expected to play a key role in driving this growth. Despite being one of the world’s largest food producers, only about 12% to 13% of India’s agricultural output currently undergoes processing, leaving considerable room for further development.

Industry experts believe that improving processing levels will not only reduce food waste but also enhance product quality, create higher-value offerings, and strengthen India’s position in global food markets. The transition from a supply-driven model to one focused on consumer preferences is expected to reshape the industry over the next several years.

The report also highlights changing consumer habits, with shoppers increasingly seeking healthier, premium, and convenient food options. Products categorized as health and functional foods are growing at an annual rate of 15% to 20%, significantly outpacing the overall food market. This shift is encouraging manufacturers to invest in innovation and develop products that align with evolving dietary preferences.

During the event, Andhra Pradesh Industries, Commerce, and Food Processing Minister T.G. Bharath announced the state’s plan to attract approximately $3.16 billion in investments into the food processing sector by 2029. The initiative is also expected to generate more than 300,000 employment opportunities, supporting regional economic growth and industrial development.

Food Processing Industries Secretary Avinash Joshi also outlined the government’s proposal to introduce a “Bharat” brand aimed at promoting Indian processed food products in international markets. Officials believe the initiative will improve the global visibility of Indian food brands while encouraging exports and increasing value addition across the sector.

With rising consumer demand, expanding investment, and supportive government initiatives, India’s food processing industry is expected to play an increasingly important role in the country’s economic growth and export competitiveness over the coming decade.

The post India’s Food Processing Sector Eyes $600 Billion first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Oscar-winning composer A R Rahman delivered a memorable performance in Washington, DC, joining forces with the National Symphony Orchestra for a concert that earned widespread praise and a standing ovation from a sold-out audience at Wolf Trap.

Held shortly after the United States marked its 250th anniversary celebrations, the event highlighted Rahman’s signature ability to blend diverse musical traditions. The performance combined Indian classical melodies, contemporary compositions, and rich Western orchestral arrangements, reflecting the artistic style that has defined his career for more than three decades.

Backed by the National Symphony Orchestra, Rahman presented symphonic interpretations of several of his well-known works. The concert featured a seamless mix of orchestral music with traditional Indian instruments, classical vocals, and live dance performances. This fusion created a unique musical experience that showcased the harmony between Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

The evening also emphasized collaboration, with Rahman sharing the stage with his talented ensemble of singers and instrumentalists. Throughout the performance, he introduced individual members of the group and allowed them to take center stage during various segments, highlighting their contributions and adding greater depth to the overall production.

One of the most celebrated moments of the concert featured music from Rahman’s Ramayan project, created in partnership with acclaimed composer Hans Zimmer. The orchestral performance was accompanied by an elegant Indian classical dance presentation, bringing together mythology, storytelling, and grand symphonic music in a visually and emotionally engaging showcase.

The audience responded enthusiastically to the performance, with the Ramayan segment receiving one of the loudest ovations of the night. The combination of sweeping orchestral arrangements and traditional Indian artistic expression left a lasting impression on concertgoers.

Rahman’s Washington appearance further demonstrated the global appeal of his music and his ability to connect audiences across cultures. By merging classical Indian traditions with world-class orchestral performance, the concert celebrated artistic collaboration while reinforcing music’s power to bridge cultural boundaries. The event stood as another milestone in Rahman’s distinguished international career, earning admiration from fans and music lovers alike.

The post A R Rahman Enthralls Washington With Symphony first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The United States has delivered another MH-60R Seahawk helicopter to the Indian Navy, marking another step forward in the expanding defense partnership between New Delhi and Washington. The aircraft, manufactured by Lockheed Martin, arrived in Kochi last week, while two additional helicopters are expected to reach India shortly, according to the US Embassy in India.

The embassy described the latest delivery as a reflection of the increasingly close defense relationship between the two countries. It emphasized that the induction of advanced military platforms continues to strengthen cooperation while supporting India’s efforts to modernize its naval capabilities.

The latest arrival follows a major defense agreement finalized in late 2025, when India approved a sustainment package valued at approximately $946 million for its fleet of 24 MH-60R Seahawk helicopters. The package is designed to ensure long-term maintenance and operational readiness while improving interoperability between the Indian and US navies. The initiative also supports broader maritime security objectives across the Indian Ocean region.

India originally acquired the helicopters through the US Foreign Military Sales program in 2020. The Indian Navy formally inducted the multi-role aircraft into service in March 2024 at INS Garuda in Kochi, marking a significant milestone in its ongoing modernization efforts.

Former Indian Navy Chief Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi previously praised the helicopter fleet, describing the MH-60R as a highly capable and reliable platform. He also confirmed that the helicopters were successfully deployed during Operation Sindoor, where they performed their assigned operational roles effectively.

The MH-60R Seahawk is designed to perform a wide range of maritime missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface operations, surveillance, search and rescue, and ship-based deployments. Its advanced onboard systems enable crews to detect underwater threats, monitor maritime activity, and support naval task forces during complex operations.

Equipped with sophisticated radar, dipping sonar, sonobuoys, lightweight torpedoes, Hellfire missiles, and precision targeting systems, the aircraft significantly enhances the Indian Navy’s operational capabilities. The helicopter is widely used by the US Navy and several allied nations, serving as a versatile platform for maritime security, humanitarian missions, medical evacuation, and combat operations.

The continued delivery of MH-60R helicopters highlights the deepening strategic partnership between India and the United States, with both countries expanding collaboration in defense technology, military preparedness, and regional maritime security.

The post US Delivers More Seahawk Helicopters to India first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Artificial intelligence commentator Dwarkesh Patel and digital marketing entrepreneur Shama Hyder have secured places on the TIME100 Creators 2026 list, an annual recognition honoring influential individuals who are shaping conversations, industries, and online culture through digital platforms.

At just 25 years old, Patel has built a strong reputation through the Dwarkesh Podcast, where he hosts detailed discussions on artificial intelligence with leading experts and innovators. Based in San Francisco, Patel has interviewed prominent figures such as AI researcher Andrej Karpathy and Nvidia Chief Executive Officer Jensen Huang. According to TIME, each episode attracts an average audience of more than 1.8 million listeners, making it one of the most prominent podcasts focused on AI.

The publication highlighted Patel’s thoughtful approach to artificial intelligence, noting that his perspective has changed as the technology has advanced. While he remains confident about AI’s long-term future, Patel has adopted a more cautious outlook regarding its near-term progress. He believes current AI systems still face limitations because they depend heavily on specialized datasets and are not yet capable of learning effectively from real-world experiences.

TIME also recognized Patel’s commitment to documenting the most significant discussions surrounding artificial intelligence as the technology continues to transform businesses, economies, and everyday life.

Joining Patel on the prestigious list is entrepreneur Shama Hyder, who has spent more than 15 years helping organizations strengthen their digital presence and marketing strategies. Hyder founded the global business-to-business marketing and public relations agency Zen Media in 2009 after completing graduate studies centered on social media and emerging digital platforms.

In addition to leading her company, Hyder has written bestselling books, including The Zen of Social Media Marketing and Momentum: How to Propel Your Marketing and Transform Your Brand in the Digital Age. Through these publications, she has guided businesses on adapting to evolving digital trends.

Hyder has also built a substantial online following, with more than 673,000 followers on LinkedIn, where she regularly shares insights on branding, marketing, leadership, and the growing influence of artificial intelligence. She also publishes the The Hyder Ground newsletter on Substack, offering practical advice for businesses navigating the AI-driven marketplace.

The inclusion of both Patel and Hyder on the TIME100 Creators 2026 list reflects the increasing importance of creators who use digital platforms to educate, inspire, and influence audiences worldwide while shaping conversations around technology, innovation, and business.

The post Dwarkesh Patel, Shama Hyder Join TIME100 List first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

President Droupadi Murmu is set to begin a week-long State visit to Moldova, North Macedonia, and Romania from July 19 to 25, reinforcing India’s commitment to expanding diplomatic and economic partnerships across Eastern Europe. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said the tour reflects New Delhi’s growing focus on strengthening bilateral relations with the region.

The first stop will be Moldova, where President Murmu will arrive on July 20 at the invitation of President Maia Sandu. The visit marks a historic occasion as it will be the first time an Indian President has traveled to the country. During her stay, President Murmu will hold delegation-level discussions with President Sandu and meet Parliament President Igor Grosu. She is also scheduled to interact with members of the Moldova-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, address the India-Moldova Business Forum, and engage with the Indian diaspora.

The MEA stated that India and Moldova enjoy cordial relations and have significant opportunities to expand cooperation in sectors including agriculture, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, information technology, and education.
President Murmu will then travel to North Macedonia from July 21 to 22 at the invitation of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova. This will also be the first-ever visit by an Indian President to the country. During the visit, she will hold bilateral talks with the President and meet Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski and senior parliamentary leaders. Her itinerary also includes an address to the Assembly of North Macedonia and participation in the India-North Macedonia Business Forum.

Officials believe both countries can expand collaboration in agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science and technology, information technology, and IT-enabled services, creating new opportunities for economic growth and innovation.

The final leg of the tour will take President Murmu to Romania from July 23 to 25. The visit will be the first by an Indian President in more than 30 years. She will meet President Nicușor Dan, interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Senate President Mircea Abrudean, and Chamber of Deputies President Sorin Grindeanu. The President will also engage with the Romania-India Parliamentary Friendship Group, address the India-Romania Business Forum, and interact with the Indian community.

Indian Navy’s sail training vessel INS Sudarshini has successfully completed its historic journey across the United States as part of the country’s Semiquincentennial celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence. The voyage showcased India’s centuries-old maritime traditions while highlighting the growing strategic and defence partnership between New Delhi and Washington.

The Embassy of India in the United States described the deployment as a significant milestone in bilateral relations. The ship’s participation covered four major East Coast ports, including Norfolk, Baltimore, New York and Boston, where it became a symbol of India’s naval heritage and maritime excellence.

The voyage was part of international maritime events, including SAIL 250 and the International Naval Review 250, organized to commemorate the historic anniversary of the United States. INS Sudarshini’s presence reflected India’s commitment to strengthening global maritime cooperation and promoting friendship between the two nations.

The Indian Consulate General in Boston also recognized the vessel’s participation in SAIL Boston 250, calling it a representation of India’s rich maritime culture, naval discipline and expanding cooperation with the United States. A media briefing was conducted during the Captain’s Reception held aboard INS Sudarshini, where officials discussed the importance of the ship’s participation.

Consul General Raghuram S. highlighted the unique role of INS Sudarshini at the event, noting that it was the only naval tall ship representing Asia and the wider Indian Ocean region. The vessel’s journey to the US East Coast took approximately 5.5 months, reflecting the dedication and endurance behind its historic mission.

Alongside maritime engagement, India and the United States continued discussions on broader defence cooperation. The Embassy of India in the US also shared details of an interaction between its Defence Wing and representatives from the US Army War College in Carlisle. The discussions focused on India’s military strategic framework and areas of alignment with US defence priorities.

The successful voyage of INS Sudarshini demonstrates the expanding partnership between India and the United States across maritime security, defence collaboration and military exchanges. The mission not only celebrated America’s historic milestone but also reinforced India’s role in promoting international naval cooperation and cultural diplomacy.

The post INS Sudarshini Completes Historic US Maritime Voyage first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
