Prominent Indian-American leader Jasdeep Singh Jassee has remarked that the recently concluded elections in India have not only underscored the robust electoral process but also sent a powerful message to the world about the resilience and vibrancy of its democracy. Despite skepticism from Western media regarding the integrity of India’s democratic processes, the results have decisively dispelled such doubts, said Jasdeep Singh Jassee of Sikhs for America in an interview with PTI.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to be sworn in for a third consecutive term, marking the first occurrence in over 60 years. Singh, who spent two weeks in Punjab during the general elections, noted that the allegations from the West about a compromised Election Commission and malfunctioning voting machines have been proven baseless, highlighting the legitimacy and fairness of the elections in the country.

“The people of India, through their votes, have demonstrated that they prioritize the nation’s overall development. Indian democracy has emerged more mature and has strengthened as a result of the latest elections,” Singh stated.

Addressing questions about Punjab, Singh pointed out that the elections have further debunked allegations of human rights violations and curbs on freedom. He emphasized the inclusiveness of India’s democratic framework, citing that Amritpal Singh, a radical pro-Khalistan separatist, participated and won the poll from jail. Moreover, the son of Beant Singh, the individual responsible for the assassination of Indira Gandhi, also participated in the election and emerged victorious.

Supporting the prime minister’s leadership for its “fast-track development in India,” Singh expressed optimism that Modi’s third term would bring stability and further economic development. He anticipated that the relationship between the United States and India would continue to improve.

Although the BJP did not win any seat in Punjab, the party saw a significant increase in its vote share, which is about 23 percent, surpassing that of the Shiromani Akali Dal. Singh remarked that the rise in support showcases the party’s expanding influence, laying a solid groundwork for upcoming elections in the state.

The post Voters prove West wrong about Indian democracy: Indian-American leader first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The formidable Indian batting lineup, led by Virat Kohli and Shreyas Iyer, amassed 397/4, putting the New Zealand bowlers on the defensive.

Despite a valiant effort by Daryl Mitchell, who scored a century, New Zealand’s resistance crumbled under India’s potent bowling attack, led by Mohammed Shami. Williamson commended India, labeling them as the best team globally and praising their consistent exceptional performance throughout the tournament.

Reflecting on Mitchell’s outstanding contribution, Williamson highlighted his phenomenal skills and competitive spirit, recognizing the player’s pivotal role in giving New Zealand a fighting chance. Both Williamson and Mitchell, along with other experienced Kiwi players, are nearing the twilight of their Cricket World Cup careers.

While acknowledging the challenges faced by the team, Williamson refrained from declaring the end of an era, emphasizing the ongoing effort to improve and push boundaries as a team. He expressed gratitude for the contributions of experienced players and conveyed optimism about the team’s future, hoping to continue nurturing new talents.

Although New Zealand fell short in this World Cup, Williamson sees value in the seven weeks spent growing as a team. The focus now shifts to regrouping for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in the following year, where the experienced squad aims to launch another major-tournament challenge.

Looking ahead, India, led by Rohit Sharma, advances to the final against either South Africa or Australia. Despite the challenges faced by New Zealand in the match, Williamson commended his team’s resilience and effort, expressing pride in their journey and acknowledging that success didn’t materialize on this particular day.

The purpose of this visit was to engage with students in an interactive session, where Khanna emphasized the importance of strengthening India-US relations in people-to-people and cultural aspects. He stressed that while defense, technology, and economic alignment are crucial, a cultural alignment through art and movies is equally significant.

Khanna shared his thoughts after the event on X, formerly Twitter, saying, “Inspiring to speak with the acting students of @anupampkher. He has helped train over 100,000 young people to achieve their dreams. He came to Bollywood with 37 rupees and made it by studying drama.”

Anupam Kher expressed his delight in hosting the representatives at his school, mentioning that they had an enriching interactive session with aspiring acting students. He felt joy in showcasing his school to them and thanked his friends for their warmth and appreciation.

Notably, Khanna’s India visit coincides with the 77th Independence Day celebrations in New Delhi on August 15. Leading a US Congressional delegation, he is engaged in an official visit to India, with plans to visit both Hyderabad and New Delhi during the trip.

The agreement, signed by Abhishek Singh, CEO of India AI, and Shivnath Thukral, Director & Head of Public Policy, Meta India, aims to establish a framework for cooperation in the realm of Artificial Intelligence and Emerging Technologies.

The primary objective of this partnership is to enable the use of Meta’s open-source AI models within the Indian AI ecosystem. Abhishek Singh highlighted that India’s active adoption of digital technologies positions AI and Emerging Technologies as crucial tools for extending technology’s benefits to a wider population. This collaboration aims to tackle significant challenges through joint research and development initiatives utilizing advanced AI technologies such as Llama and other open-source solutions.

Sir Nick Clegg, President of Global Affairs at Meta, commended India’s digital leadership and expressed that Meta’s open AI innovation aligns well with India’s approach. The collaboration between ‘India AI’ and Meta is seen as a promising opportunity to further India’s digital leadership and develop AI solutions tailored to the country’s unique requirements.

The partnership between ‘India AI’ and Meta focuses on advancing research and development in AI and Emerging Technologies. Additionally, the possibility of establishing a Centre of Excellence to nurture the AI startup ecosystem is being explored.

Leveraging Meta’s AI research models like LlaMA, Massively Multilingual Speech, and No Language Left Behind, the collaboration will prioritize building datasets in Indian Languages. These datasets will facilitate translation and the creation of large language models, particularly for low-resource languages. This initiative aims to promote social inclusion, enhance government service delivery, and foster innovation through large language models, Generative AI, cognitive systems, and translation models.

‘India AI’ and Meta are also committed to enhancing accessibility to AI compute resources for researchers, startups, and resource-limited organizations. Knowledge sharing and collaboration will be facilitated through workshops, seminars, conferences, and similar platforms, fostering the growth of AI talent in India.

Furthermore, both entities share the goal of raising awareness about AI’s potential benefits and risks among diverse stakeholders, including policymakers, businesses, civil society, and the general public. They plan to collaborate on the development of comprehensive tools and guidelines to promote responsible AI practices.

After approximately 23 minutes, the primary satellite separated, followed by the deployment of the remaining six co-passenger satellites into their designated orbits, according to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).

S Somanath, the chief of ISRO, confirmed that all seven satellites were positioned correctly in the desired orbit. This achievement marked the Indian space agency’s second significant launch in two weeks, following the Chandrayaan-3 mission to the Moon launched on July 14 from Sriharikota.

The focal point of the PSLV-C56 mission was the DS-SAR satellite, a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) that generates 2D images and 3D reconstructions of objects. The DS-SAR satellite was developed through a collaboration between DSTA, representing the Government of Singapore, and ST Engineering. Its purpose is to fulfill the imagery requirements of various Singaporean government bodies and ST Engineering’s commercial clients. ISRO executed the launch under an agreement with New Space India Limited (NSIL).

Moscow is insisting that meetings on the Ukraine crisis are pointless without Russia’s participation and hopes its BRICS partners, including India, will provide feedback after attending Jeddah talks about implementing the Ukrainian Peace Formula. Saudi Arabia hosted the second meeting aiming to establish principles for restoring lasting peace in Ukraine, with participants from 40 countries, including Russia’s BRICS allies. Russia, rejecting the Ukrainian Peace Formula, stated that the consultations are not aimed at finding a diplomatic solution. Moscow appreciates mediating initiatives by countries from the Global South to achieve peace.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova emphasized that meetings like this aim to belittle other countries’ peace initiatives and monopolize the right to promote them. India’s National Security Advisor, Ajit Doval, reiterated support for dialogue and diplomacy to resolve the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Ukraine’s delegation head, Andriy Yermak, believes the Jeddah meeting brought them closer to implementing the Peace Formula proposed by President Zelensky. The 15th BRICS Summit in Johannesburg, with leaders from Brazil, China, India, and South Africa, is expected to emphasize South-South Cooperation.

Prime Minister Modi will use India’s G20 presidency to amplify the Global South’s voice and shape the global agenda. Ahead of the summit, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov discussed regional matters, including the Ukrainian crisis, with China’s Wang Yi.

The study involved over 100 participants aged 18-22, who maintained a daily sleep diary over a two-week period. This diary included details like bedtime, time taken to fall asleep, wake-up time, and overall satisfaction with their sleep.

Throughout the following day, participants were asked to rate their positive and negative emotions, as well as their life satisfaction five times. In addition to this, they wore an actigraph on their wrist to monitor their movement patterns and estimate sleep quality. The researchers aimed to analyze the relationship between variations in sleep patterns, quality, and participants’ mood and life satisfaction the following day.

Dr. Anita Lenneis, the lead author from the University of Warwick’s Department of Psychology, highlighted that participants’ self-assessment of their sleep consistently correlated with their feelings of well-being and life satisfaction. Interestingly, when participants reported better sleep than usual, they experienced more positive emotions and a higher sense of life satisfaction the next day. However, the measure of sleep quality derived from actigraphy, known as sleep efficiency, did not show any association with the following day’s well-being.

Professor Anu Realo from the University of Warwick’s Department of Psychology added that these findings are aligned with previous research showing that subjective health reports, rather than actual health conditions, play a significant role in an individual’s well-being and life satisfaction. The study concludes that an individual’s positive evaluation of their sleep could contribute to a better mood on the subsequent day.

Dr. Lenneis emphasized that even if a sleep-tracking device indicates poor sleep, an individual’s perception of their sleep quality might be positive, leading to an improved mood. Conversely, if the device indicates good sleep but the person did not experience it as such, this information could prompt them to reassess their actual sleep quality. The study highlights how sleep trackers can offer insights into sleep quality not otherwise accessible, potentially enhancing an individual’s subjective perception of their sleep and overall well-being the next day.

For the very first instance, a 16-foot statue has been transported from Mumbai to Toronto, Canada, for the planned Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav festivities. Referred to as Canadacha Raja, this statue is being dispatched to the event organizers, Blue Peacock Entertainment, who are orchestrating the Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav in Toronto. Their intention is to mark the celebration on a significant level this year, with assistance from municipal authorities.

Situated in Lalbaug, across from One Avighna Park, stands Kalasagar Arts, directed by Nikhil Khatu, aged 27, who has made history as the pioneer sculptor shipping a Ganesh statue to Toronto. Kalasagar Arts is recognized for crafting notable Sarvajanik Ganpati figures, including Andhericha Raja and Fortcha Raja. Khatu noted that sculptures usually ranging up to four or six feet were exported overseas, but this marks the inaugural occasion of dispatching a statue of such towering stature. The statue will be immersed in an artificial pond, rather than a natural water source. A spacious 20×20 feet artificial pond is being set up, where a mixture of water and sodium bicarbonate will dissolve the plaster of paris (POP) statue. Khatu described the theme as portraying a king’s posture with a royal sitting, resembling Lalbaugcha Raja. “Canada is home to numerous Hindus, and although some household murtis are brought, this will be the first time a grand Sarvajanik celebration of this magnitude will take place,” Khatu expressed.

He often grabs attention for his outspoken views on politics, society, and entertainment. In a recent interview, he referred to billionaire Mukesh Ambani as a ‘struggler’.

The actor gained attention on social media when he criticized director Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation of Ramayana. This followed the backlash faced by Om Raut’s ‘Adipurush’, a film based on the Ramayan epic. The portrayal of characters and dialogues led to criticism.

In an interview with Times Now, Annu Kapoor said, “Name one person on Earth who isn’t struggling. You think struggle is just about money or fame. Even Mukesh Ambani, if you ask him, he also has struggles, he’s a struggler.”
