India is launching a far-reaching diplomatic offensive to counter Pakistan’s global narrative on terrorism and highlight its role as a major sponsor of terror. The initiative kicks off with one of the seven all-party delegations, headed by JD(U) leader Sanjay Kumar Jha, set to visit Eastern nations including Japan beginning Wednesday.

“Our delegation will leave the country tomorrow. We will go to Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore,” said Sanjay Kumar Jha, JD(U)’s national working president, during a press interaction at Patna airport on Tuesday.

Jha explained that the core purpose of the delegation is to raise international awareness about Pakistan’s longstanding involvement in terrorism and to expose the country’s propaganda by presenting verified facts to the world.

The diplomatic move follows the successful execution of Operation Sindoor, under which the Modi government has laid out a comprehensive strategy to globally isolate Pakistan by revealing its terror links. As part of the campaign, seven multi-party delegations including MPs and political leaders have been formed. They will visit India-friendly nations as well as members of the UN Security Council to demonstrate how Pakistan is exporting terror not just to India but globally.

This initiative is a direct response to Pakistan’s repeated and unsuccessful efforts to project itself as a victim of terrorism and draw parallels with India.

The delegation led by Jha includes prominent political figures like BJP MP Aparajita Sarangi, Congress leader Salman Khurshid, and TMC MP Yusuf Pathan (recently replaced by Abhishek Banerjee).

Addressing the media, Sanjay Kumar Jha stated, “We are going abroad not as representatives of any particular political party, but as representatives of the country.” He noted that India stands united on the issue of terrorism and that the nation fully supports the Indian Army and the Modi government’s anti-terror stance.

He also reiterated the government’s position that any further aggression from Pakistan will be treated as an act of war — underlining a tough new normal in India’s foreign and security policy.

All seven delegations, comprising cross-party leaders and seasoned diplomats, will deliver a unified message to the international community: India has zero tolerance for terrorism, and it will continue to combat terror in all its manifestations, across all borders.

On Tuesday, May 20, the Indian Air Force (IAF) sent a resounding message of strength and readiness to the nation and its adversaries. In a powerful video shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Indian Air Force reiterated its steadfast dedication to safeguarding the nation. Accompanied by Piyush Mishra’s stirring anthem “Aarambh Hai Prachand Hai”, the visuals captured the force’s cutting-edge operations, evolving combat techniques, and strategic excellence.

The cinematic video featured adrenaline-fueled glimpses of Indian Air Force jets and operations underlining its modern warfare capabilities. Captions like “Unseen, Unstoppable, Unmatched” and “Swift, Lethal, Agile” painted a portrait of a force primed for every contingency. The message was unambiguous: the IAF stands ever vigilant, responding with precision and unwavering resolve.

Echoing the IAF’s message of strength, the Indian Navy had earlier shared a video on Sunday, setting a similar tone of determination. Their clip declared: “With courage as our compass and duty as our guide, the Indian Navy remains poised — to secure peace and destroy all threats.” The accompanying visuals were anchored by the soul-stirring words of Ramdhari Singh Dinkar, one of India’s most revered Hindi poets.

The Navy’s use of Dinkar’s renowned verse — often seen as Lord Krishna’s last warning to the Kauravas before the Mahabharata battle — carried powerful symbolism. It marked a symbolic transition from diplomacy to decisive action, resonating strongly with India’s current military doctrine and assertive posture.

During a DGMO press conference held on May 12, the poetic undertones were further explained. When asked about the use of Dinkar’s line “Yachna nahi ab ran hoga”, Air Marshal AK Bharti referenced another powerful couplet — this time from the Ramayana:
“Vinay na maanat jaladh jad gaye teen din beeti. Bole Ram sakop tab, bhay binu hoy na preeti.”

The translation: “The ocean refused to yield even after three days of persuasion. Then Lord Ram, angered, said — without fear, there is no love.” This line, rich in metaphor, served as a strategic assertion: diplomacy must have limits, and strength must be met with strength.

Through poetry, music, and powerful visuals, India’s armed forces are communicating not just preparedness, but a clear doctrine — firm, fearless, and ready.

India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack signals a decisive shift in how New Delhi tackles cross-border terrorism, according to Aparna Pande, Director of the India Initiative at the Hudson Institute. Speaking to ANI, Pande explained that the era of “strategic restraint” has ended, replaced by a policy of swift, calculated retaliation.

Referencing the May 7 Operation Sindoor strikes that followed the April 22 attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Pande said India has shown it is now willing to escalate its military response without necessarily crossing into full-scale war. “There is now an understanding that India can strike terror outfits across the border, and that there’s operational space for conventional escalation without triggering war,” she said.

Pande also pointed out that India’s strategy now includes direct strikes on terror hubs in Pakistan and a long-term security posture that factors in the growing China-Pakistan military alliance. This includes the integration of India’s air defence capabilities to prepare for future multi-front threats.

Operation Sindoor was launched 14 days after the targeted killing of 26 civilians in Pahalgam by Pakistan-backed militants. In a precise and coordinated assault, the Indian Armed Forces hit nine terror sites across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, reportedly neutralizing over 100 terrorists. Following this, Pakistan launched missile and drone attacks at Indian military and civilian targets—but its efforts were swiftly repelled.

In retaliation, the Indian Air Force conducted operations that reportedly bypassed and jammed Pakistan’s Chinese-supplied air defence systems, inflicting severe damage on military installations from Nur Khan to Sargodha. After three days of heavy losses, Pakistan sought a ceasefire.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his first address after Operation Sindoor, described the mission as more than just a tactical move. “This was a doctrinal shift—a firm and lasting message that India will no longer tolerate terror,” he said, indicating that such swift responses will define India’s counter-terrorism approach going forward.

The phrase “Operation Sindoor,” associated with a recent Indian cross-border military response, is rapidly turning into a coveted intellectual property asset. Trademark applications for the term have been submitted in the United States, the United Kingdom, and India, targeting sectors like media, streaming, advertising, and entertainment.

On May 9, 2025, New York-based Rohith Baharani filed for the trademark in the United States under International Class 041. This category includes entertainment-related services, specifically the intent to license or sell the title to production houses, OTT platforms, or distribution channels. Filed under an “intent to use” basis, the mark hasn’t yet been used in commerce and awaits examination under U.S. Classes 100, 101, and 107.

The United Kingdom recorded a separate application just a day earlier, on May 8, 2025, by Vikas Mahajan of Devon. His trademark application covers Classes 35, 38, and 41, which include advertising, telecommunication services, and educational offerings.

Meanwhile, India has seen a surge of interest in trademarking “Operation Sindoor.” As of mid-May, at least 14 applications have been filed across different classes—from clothing to media services. One significant applicant, Indian giant Reliance, briefly entered the race but withdrew its application a day after filing under Class 41 for entertainment-related services.

Despite the term’s origin as a military codename, Indian law does not offer automatic IP protection for such phrases. The Ministry of Defence does not register or commercialize these names, leaving them vulnerable to claims from private individuals unless deemed misleading or offensive under the Trade Marks Act, 1999.

While Indian law requires proof of use or intent to use for registration, foreign applicants can still challenge domestic claims through the Madrid Protocol, which facilitates multi-country registration from a single base. For instance, a registered trademark in the US or UK can be extended to India via this system. If accepted during India’s examination process, it could block or override local applications.

Experts note that while “Operation Sindoor” symbolizes valor and national pride, its transformation into a commercial asset highlights the blurred lines between public symbolism and private ownership in a global IP landscape.

Addressing an event in Islamabad, Sharif emphasized the need to resolve long-standing disputes, including the issue of Jammu and Kashmir, stating that true peace in the region cannot be achieved without addressing these concerns.

Sharif’s comments come in the wake of Pakistan’s military setbacks during the May 7 Indian operation and the subsequent four-day cross-border conflict. India had launched precision strikes on terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to the April 22 Pahalgam massacre, where 25 Indian civilians were killed in a targeted attack based on their religious identity.

While Sharif called for diplomacy, Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh issued a stark warning, describing Operation Sindoor as merely the beginning. “What you’ve seen is just a trailer,” Singh said while addressing personnel at the Bhuj Air Force Station in Gujarat. “The full picture will be revealed if necessary. Pakistan is under watch. If their behavior changes, good—if not, we will act with full force.”

Singh alleged that Pakistan is using funds from its $2.1 billion International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan to support terrorist organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen. He further claimed that the Pakistan government intends to allocate Rs 14 crore to Jaish leader Masood Azhar, a UN-designated global terrorist.

According to Singh, India has called on the IMF to reconsider its aid to Pakistan due to the suspected misuse of funds to revive terror infrastructure, particularly in regions like Muridke and Bahawalpur.

Following the intense Operation Sindoor strikes, Pakistan attempted retaliation through missile and drone attacks, all of which were effectively neutralized by Indian defense systems. With rising international pressure and mounting economic strain, Pakistan sought U.S. intervention to de-escalate tensions. A ceasefire was brokered on May 10.

Despite the temporary truce, India maintains that Pakistan is still “on probation,” and any further provocation will meet with a harsher response. The situation continues to evolve as both countries weigh the cost of conflict and diplomacy.

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, addressing a gathering in New Delhi on Saturday, likened India’s recent Operation Sindoor to the 2011 U.S. mission that resulted in Osama bin Laden’s death. Applauding the mission, Dhankhar described Operation Sindoor as a milestone in counter-terror strategy, calling it a “global benchmark” in precision military action.

Operation Sindoor was launched 14 days after a brutal attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 civilians lost their lives to terrorists originating from Pakistan. On May 7, the Indian Armed Forces executed a targeted operation on nine confirmed terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Reports estimate that at least 100 militants were neutralized in these meticulously planned strikes.

Dhankhar referred to the attack as India’s most extensive cross-border strike to date, targeting strongholds of terror outfits such as Jaish-e-Mohammed and Lashkar-e-Taiba. Drawing a historical comparison, he alluded to the U.S. Navy SEAL operation—code-named Neptune Spear—that eliminated Osama bin Laden in Abbottabad, Pakistan, almost a decade after the 9/11 attacks. Though he didn’t mention bin Laden by name, Dhankhar referenced how a notorious global terrorist behind the 9/11 attacks was taken down by American forces in a similar fashion.

Emphasizing India’s strong position, Dhankhar declared that the global community is now clearly aware of India’s resolute strength and determination. He emphasized that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had sent a clear signal globally following the Pahalgam tragedy, and Operation Sindoor was a direct, powerful follow-through on that message.

According to him, these strikes were unprecedented in depth and accuracy, specifically aimed at eliminating terror operatives while avoiding civilian harm. He labeled the Pahalgam massacre as the deadliest civilian terror attack since the Mumbai 26/11 incident.

With Operation Sindoor, India has demonstrated a zero-tolerance approach to cross-border terrorism, earning international attention and reshaping the global narrative on counter-terrorism efforts.

In a major diplomatic move following Operation Sindoor, the Indian government is preparing to send seven multi-party delegations of Members of Parliament (MPs) to major international capitals later this month. These teams will advocate India’s firm stand against terrorism funded and facilitated by Pakistan.
The delegations, led by key political figures such as Shashi Tharoor (INC), Ravi Shankar Prasad (BJP), Sanjay Kumar Jha (JDU), Baijayant Panda (BJP), Kanimozhi Karunanidhi (DMK), Supriya Sule (NCP-SP), and Shrikant Eknath Shinde (Shiv Sena), will each include between five to eight MPs. The participating parties range across the spectrum—BJP, Congress, TMC, DMK, JDU, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction), BJD, Shiv Sena (UBT), and CPM.
Coordinated by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju, the outreach program will involve approximately 40 MPs traveling to several countries—including the United States, United Kingdom, UAE, Japan, and South Africa—on a 10-day diplomatic mission starting May 23.
The objective of these visits is to expose Pakistan’s ongoing involvement in cross-border terrorism and to justify India’s recent counterstrike campaign, Operation Sindoor, launched in response to the Pahalgam attack on April 22, which resulted in 26 casualties. India’s retaliatory strikes reportedly neutralized over 100 militants in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
This initiative marks the first time that India has deployed such a large, all-party contingent to advocate its stance on Kashmir and terrorism abroad. NCP-SP MP Supriya Sule confirmed her participation, emphasizing that this effort reflects national solidarity. She shared that each team will visit five to eight countries over a 10-day period, departing around May 23 or 24.
The ministries of external affairs, home affairs, and parliamentary affairs are collaboratively compiling detailed reports and evidence to support the delegations’ diplomatic efforts. Each group will be accompanied by an MEA representative to assist in international briefings.
Tharoor, posting on X, stated he was honored to lead a delegation and stressed that national duty transcends political lines. According to PTI, Prasad’s group will visit Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Algeria; Sule’s team will head to Oman, Kenya, South Africa, and Egypt; and Jha’s group is set for Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

In one of the boldest and most strategically complex counter-offensive moves in recent years, India deployed its BrahMos supersonic cruise missiles to target and destroy critical Pakistani air bases during the second phase of the Sindoor Operation. Supported actively by other branches of the armed forces, the Indian Air Force successfully hit 11 out of Pakistan’s 12 air bases scattered throughout the country, severely damaging the Chinese-supported air defense networks.

According to defense sources quoted by ANI, approximately 15 BrahMos missiles were precision-launched, striking vital military infrastructure and effectively neutralizing Pakistan’s air strike capabilities. Alongside the BrahMos, the Indian forces also deployed Scalp missiles mounted on Rafale fighter jets to enhance the operation’s impact. This mission marked the BrahMos missile system’s first active combat deployment, where its exceptional precision and destructive power exceeded expectations, crippling key Pakistani air assets and defense command centers.

The Indian Air Force’s tactic began with deploying unmanned decoy drones disguised as fighter jets, triggering Pakistani radars and air defense systems like the HQ-9 missile launchers to reveal their positions. Once exposed, Indian forces employed loitering munitions, including Israeli Harop drones, to dismantle Pakistan’s air defense grid effectively.

Following this breach, India launched a concentrated missile assault involving BrahMos, Scalp, Rampage, and Crystal Maze missiles from its Western and Southwestern Air Commands. These strikes critically damaged runways, fortified shelters, and command hubs, significantly diminishing Pakistan’s ability to respond. Despite Pakistan’s attempts to retaliate using ballistic and cruise missiles and unmanned combat vehicles, India’s combination of Russian S-400, MRSAM, and Akash missile defenses, along with older systems, successfully intercepted these attacks.

The intensity of India’s offensive forced Pakistan to relocate many aircraft to safer rear bases and led to the loss of valuable assets, including UAVs and an airborne early warning system. The damage was so severe that Pakistan abandoned plans for further counterattacks and, through a call from its DGMO to the Indian counterpart, requested a cessation of hostilities. Subsequently, both nations agreed to pause all military action, leading to a ceasefire understanding.

The recent military tensions between India and Pakistan, especially following Operation Sindoor, have once again brought defense budgets into sharp focus. According to government sources, India is poised to approve an additional $600 million for defense through a supplementary grant. If passed in the upcoming Winter Session of Parliament, India’s total defense allocation for the fiscal year will exceed $87 billion, setting a new record.

This additional funding builds on the Union Budget’s earlier provision of $84 billion for defense in 2024–25, which was already a 9.5% increase from the previous year’s $76.7 billion. Since 2014, the BJP government has more than tripled the defense budget, reflecting a consistent emphasis on modernizing the armed forces.

India’s military expenditure for the current year is estimated at $86.1 billion, ranking fifth globally and marking a 1.6% increase over the previous year. In contrast, Pakistan’s defense budget stands at $10.2 billion, highlighting a significant disparity in financial resources between the two neighbours, as reported by the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI).

This gap illustrates the differing economic strengths and strategic priorities of the two nations. India focuses heavily on modernising its military arsenal, introducing cutting-edge technology such as the indigenously developed Tejas fighter jets and Agni missile series, along with expanding cyber and space warfare capabilities.

Pakistan, while operating on a comparatively smaller budget, allocates a significant portion of its GDP to defense, primarily prioritizing nuclear deterrence and missile development to counterbalance India’s conventional military superiority. Tactical nuclear weapons remain a cornerstone of Pakistan’s defense posture.

Military Strength Overview (Global Firepower Index 2024):

India ranks 4th globally (PowerIndex 0.1184), Pakistan 12th (0.2513)

India’s population exceeds 1.4 billion with 1.45 million active troops, while Pakistan has around 240 million people and 654,000 active military personnel.

Air power: India fields 2,229 aircraft (513 fighters), Pakistan 1,399 (328 fighters)

Land forces: India maintains 4,201 tanks; Pakistan holds 2,627 tanks and leads in rocket projectors with 600 units

Naval assets: India operates 293 naval vessels, including 2 aircraft carriers, while Pakistan has 121 ships but lacks carriers and destroyers.

Despite Pakistan’s efforts, India maintains superiority in manpower, air, land, and naval power. Economic instability and frequent IMF bailouts place Pakistan’s long-term military ambitions under strain, while India continues its path toward self-reliance and enhanced defense capabilities.

Following India’s successful Operation Sindoor—which dismantled major terror camps run by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed—Pakistan attempted to retaliate through Operation Un Marsoos, which was swiftly countered by Indian forces. In the aftermath of this failed attempt, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, became the center of ridicule after making an embarrassing and unverified claim.

During a recent Senate address, Dar cited a supposed front-page story from the UK’s The Daily Telegraph, which allegedly declared the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) as the “Undisputed King of the Skies.” He presented this as evidence of global admiration for the PAF’s performance—only for the claim to unravel within hours. The supposed image of the newspaper was quickly identified as fake, and not by international outlets—but by Dawn, one of Pakistan’s own most respected newspapers.

Dawn’s fact-checking wing, iVerify Pakistan, thoroughly examined the viral image. The investigation revealed that no such article or front page was ever published by The Daily Telegraph. The image in circulation was determined to be AI-generated, lacking any factual basis. This revelation turned Dar’s speech into a moment of national embarrassment and sparked widespread mockery on social media.

Indian political figures and government agencies were quick to respond. BJP IT Cell chief Amit Malviya dismissed the statement as part of a wider “web of lies and desperation,” posting the related video on X (formerly Twitter). India’s Press Information Bureau also released its own fact-check, confirming the headline was a complete fabrication.

This isn’t Pakistan’s first misstep in information warfare. Since the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22 and India’s subsequent offensive, Islamabad has circulated doctored videos, recycled visuals, and misleading captions in an effort to construct a favorable narrative. However, each attempt has been discredited—this latest one, being debunked by Pakistan’s own media, stands out as the most humiliating episode in the propaganda campaign so far.
