The report argues that maintaining constructive dialogue while resisting pressure for immediate concessions could ultimately help India secure a more favorable trade deal.

The report recommends that India keep diplomatic engagement positive, avoid public disputes, and make only limited commitments that can be adjusted if necessary. Rather than reacting quickly to the US administration’s opening demands, India should wait until Washington faces the economic and political costs of its own negotiating stance. At that stage, the US may be more willing to offer better terms as its priorities become clearer.

Dr. Soumya Kanti Ghosh, Group Chief Economic Adviser at the State Bank of India, said India should demonstrate patience and resilience, even if doing so brings short-term challenges. He noted that standing firm would reinforce India’s long-term interests and test the determination of the US administration. According to him, a measured approach would eventually work in India’s favor.

The report highlights that the US has adopted uncertainty as a negotiation tool across several international issues, including tariff policies, NATO, China, Iran, and Greenland. This strategy creates ambiguity, making it difficult for negotiating partners to predict Washington’s final position and forcing them to decide whether to compromise, delay, or push back.

SBI Research points out that while the US gains leverage in the short term through this approach, repeated uncertainty could weaken confidence among allies and trading partners over time. If countries begin to expect the US to soften its position once economic pressures increase, the effectiveness of its bargaining tactics may gradually diminish.

The report also emphasizes India’s unique strengths, including its vast consumer market, skilled technology workforce, pharmaceutical industry, defense partnerships, energy flexibility, global diaspora, and growing role in the Indo-Pacific region. These factors provide India with meaningful leverage despite the broader geopolitical landscape.

Separately, the report noted that global shipping activity through the Strait of Hormuz remains uneven despite the June 17 agreement between the US and Iran to end hostilities. While crude oil shipments have resumed gradually, agricultural cargo traffic has recovered only partially, and shipments related to liquefied natural gas and fertilizers continue to remain largely absent, reflecting ongoing uncertainty in global trade routes.

The post India Urged to Stay Patient on US Trade Talks: SBI first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Rishi Sharma, an Indian-origin resident of the US, has spent more than a decade recording the personal experiences of World War II combat veterans to ensure their stories are remembered for generations.

At just 18 years old, shortly after graduating from high school, Sharma began his mission by interviewing veterans in his Southern California neighborhood. Over the years, his project expanded into a nationwide effort, taking him across all 50 US states as well as countries including Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and France.

So far, Sharma has documented conversations with more than 3,000 World War II veterans and continues his mission to reach as many remaining survivors as possible. Through his project, Remember WWII, he records detailed interviews, preserves their memories, and shares these stories with families and the public.

Recently, Sharma interviewed 100-year-old Marine veteran Nils Mockler from Yorktown, New York. Mockler served as a combat intelligence scout and participated in the historic Battle of Iwo Jima, one of the most significant and challenging battles of the US Marine Corps during World War II.

Sharma’s interest in World War II history was not influenced by a military background. His parents immigrated to the United States from India, and his family had no direct connection to the armed forces. Instead, his passion developed during his school years, inspiring him to learn about the sacrifices made by wartime generations.

The Remember WWII initiative operates through public donations, with contributions mainly supporting travel expenses and recording equipment. Sharma does not take a personal salary from the project. He also shares interviews on his YouTube channel, allowing a wider audience to connect with veterans’ experiences.

When Sharma started documenting these stories, hundreds of thousands of World War II veterans were still alive. Today, only around 30,000 remain worldwide. He believes preserving their memories is important because their experiences represent more than historical events; they reflect the values, sacrifices, and resilience that shaped modern America.

Through his decade-long effort, Sharma is helping protect the legacy of a generation that played a major role in defending freedom and shaping the country’s future. His work serves as a reminder that personal stories are an essential part of preserving history.

The post Indian American Preserves WWII Veterans’ Stories first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Designed as a theatrical presentation rather than a traditional annual recital, the production brings together nearly 80 performers representing multiple age groups, from young children to adult dancers. The show narrates the story of Lord Ganesha through an engaging blend of Bharatanatyam, original choreography, music, narration, and dramatic storytelling, creating a vibrant stage experience for audiences.

Months of rehearsals and collaboration have gone into preparing the performance, with students and instructors working closely to transform the creative vision into a full-scale production. The event showcases not only technical skill but also the teamwork, discipline, and dedication that form the foundation of classical dance training.

Beyond celebrating artistic achievement, “Gaanapathyam” reflects the broader values promoted by Pranavam School of Dance. Through its training programs, students develop confidence, creativity, perseverance, leadership, and a deeper appreciation for India’s cultural traditions. The institution views dance as a medium for both personal growth and cultural preservation.

Over the past 10 years, the school has evolved into a vibrant cultural center serving families across the community. In addition to teaching Bharatanatyam, it has created a welcoming environment where students build lasting friendships, strengthen their connection to their heritage, and participate in meaningful artistic experiences. Many families consider the school an important part of their cultural journey and community life.

As Pranavam reaches this milestone, the anniversary production serves as both a celebration of its accomplishments and a reflection of its future aspirations. By blending tradition with creative storytelling, the school continues its mission of introducing younger generations to the richness of Indian classical dance while inspiring them to become confident performers and ambassadors of their cultural heritage.

The event is expected to bring together students, families, and members of the Indian-American community to celebrate a decade of preserving Bharatanatyam and fostering cultural pride through the performing arts.

The post Pranavam Marks 10 Years with Dance Drama first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

India is moving closer to launching its first high-speed rail service as the Mumbai–Ahmedabad High-Speed Rail (MAHSR) corridor enters its final stages of development. The project marks a major milestone in the country’s transportation modernization efforts and is expected to serve as the blueprint for a wider national bullet train network.

According to the Ministry of Railways, the 508-kilometer corridor has been designed to operate at speeds of up to 320 kmph, with maximum design capabilities reaching 350 kmph. Once fully operational, the line will reduce travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad to approximately 1 hour and 58 minutes, connecting 12 key stations along the route. Officials have indicated that the first operational segment between Surat and Vapi is expected to begin service in August 2027.

The project is also being viewed as a foundation for standardizing high-speed rail construction across India. Engineers and planners have developed repeatable design models, construction methods, and operational systems that can be applied to future corridors. This approach is intended to accelerate project execution, reduce overall costs, and maintain consistent quality across the expanding network.

A major focus of the initiative is domestic manufacturing and technological self-reliance. Under national programs such as Make in India and Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Indian institutions and public sector companies are working to develop indigenous high-speed train sets capable of operating at 280 kmph. These efforts aim to reduce dependency on foreign technology while building local expertise in advanced rail systems and components.

Building on lessons from the Mumbai–Ahmedabad corridor, India has also identified seven additional high-speed rail routes covering nearly 4,000 kilometers. These proposed corridors include major city pairs such as Delhi–Varanasi, Chennai–Bengaluru, Bengaluru–Hyderabad, Mumbai–Pune, and others, forming a long-term blueprint for a nationwide high-speed rail grid.

The planned expansion is expected to attract investments worth approximately $168.05 billion, creating a large-scale infrastructure ecosystem and supporting industrial growth. Authorities believe that standardized engineering practices and indigenous technology adoption will not only reduce travel time between major cities but also strengthen India’s manufacturing base and improve long-term economic efficiency.

Overall, the high-speed rail program represents a strategic shift in India’s transportation planning, aiming to build a faster, more connected, and technologically advanced rail network that can support the country’s future economic growth.

The post India Pushes High-Speed Rail Expansion Plan first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Speaking during a discussion with former US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, the Indian American business leader reflected on her career and the opportunities she believes are unique to the United States.

Nooyi said she frequently reminds her daughters of the advantages they have by growing up in America. According to her, they often ask why she considers the country exceptional, giving her an opportunity to explain how the US has consistently created an environment where innovation, entrepreneurship, and talent can thrive regardless of a person’s background.

She pointed to America’s ability to transform technological breakthroughs into globally successful businesses, arguing that commercialization has been one of the country’s greatest strengths. While important discoveries may originate in different parts of the world, she said the United States has repeatedly demonstrated an unmatched ability to scale innovation and turn ideas into products and services that influence billions of people.

Reflecting on her own journey, Nooyi said her experience illustrates the opportunities available to immigrants in the US. Arriving with limited resources, she eventually became the CEO of one of America’s most recognizable companies, a milestone she believes would have been difficult to achieve elsewhere, including in her native India.

According to Nooyi, the American corporate system rewards ability and performance above personal characteristics. She praised the mentors who supported her career, saying they focused on identifying talent rather than factors such as gender, ethnicity, or background. In her view, this commitment to meritocracy played a defining role in her professional success.

Nooyi encouraged younger generations, including her daughters, to appreciate and preserve the values that have helped create opportunities for millions of people. She said maintaining the country’s spirit of innovation, fairness, and ambition is essential for future generations seeking similar success.

An alumna of the Yale School of Management, Nooyi led PepsiCo for 12 years before stepping down as CEO in 2018. During her tenure, she guided the company through significant global expansion and strategic transformation while becoming one of the most influential Indian American executives in corporate history. Her remarks offered a personal perspective on the role America played in shaping her career and reinforced her belief in the opportunities available through hard work and merit.

The post Indra Nooyi Credits US for Her Leadership Journey first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The California-based composer, author, actor, and performer, who is fluent in 11 languages, says his artistic journey has always been guided by curiosity and a deep respect for music from around the world.

Speaking about his upbringing, Nayyar recalled that music became part of his life even before he was born. His parents regularly played classical compositions during his mother’s pregnancy, and after birth, he explored instruments with the same excitement most children reserve for toys. Rather than following a rigid path, he developed a natural fascination with how different cultures express similar emotions through sound.

Despite performing across genres including jazz, electronic music, cinematic scores, and multilingual vocals, Nayyar credits Indian classical music for providing the foundation of his artistry. He said years of training on the sitar, tabla, and tanpura shaped his understanding of rhythm, improvisation, and emotional expression, allowing him to explore new musical landscapes without losing his cultural identity.

Among the hundreds of instruments he plays, Nayyar describes the sitar, tabla, and tanpura as having the deepest spiritual significance. He views the sitar as a voice capable of expressing subtle emotional tones, the tabla as a living rhythm, and the tanpura as a meditative anchor that brings clarity before every performance.

His creative philosophy is reflected in his debut album, Breaking Barriers, which blends Indian classical influences with jazz, orchestral composition, and electronic production. According to Nayyar, the project challenges traditional musical boundaries while encouraging artists to embrace multiple identities instead of limiting themselves to a single genre or cultural label.

Nayyar also recently published Passion to Exploration of 107 Sound Machines, a book designed to encourage aspiring musicians to develop curiosity across cultures and musical traditions. Rather than focusing solely on technique, he hopes to inspire young artists to explore global sounds with confidence and originality.

Reflecting on collaborations with Pakistani singer Ali Zafar and appearances on television programs including The Jennifer Hudson Show and Good Morning America, Nayyar said mainstream platforms provide valuable opportunities to introduce audiences to Indian classical instruments in fresh, contemporary ways. He believes these performances help spark interest in world music while demonstrating that traditional instruments remain relevant in modern entertainment.

Looking ahead, Nayyar plans to continue expanding his creative work through live performances, film scoring, acting, and cross-genre collaborations. For the Indian American artist, the journey is not about mastering another instrument but about discovering new ways to connect cultures and tell meaningful stories through music.

The post Indian American Musician Neil Nayyar Breaks Barriers first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The initiative illustrates how Indian Americans have contributed to nearly every aspect of American society, from politics and business to science, medicine, culture, and cuisine.

The project begins with what is believed to be the first recorded non-coerced arrival of an Indian in the United States in 1790. Historical records describe an unidentified “Man from Madras” who traveled to Salem, Massachusetts, before returning to India the following year. From this early connection, the timeline follows the steady growth of a community that today is estimated to number between three million and five million people.

Released just before America’s Independence Day celebrations on July 4, the collection presents more than 15 categories of achievements. Indiaspora said the timeline was developed through an extensive research and editorial process, with outside experts reviewing the selected milestones to ensure historical accuracy and significance.

The organization highlighted the remarkable economic influence of Indian Americans, noting that by 2023, Indian-origin executives were leading 16 Fortune 500 companies. It also pointed to the community’s strong entrepreneurial presence, including ownership of approximately 60% of hotels across the United States, alongside growing contributions in healthcare, education, finance, and technology.

The timeline also celebrates pioneers who helped shape American history. It recognizes Anandi Gopal Joshi as the first Indian woman to earn a medical degree in the United States in 1886 and Eduljee Sorabjee as one of the earliest South Asian immigrants to obtain US citizenship. In politics, it highlights Dalip Singh Saund, the first Asian American and Sikh elected to Congress, as well as Vice President Kamala Harris and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley for their historic roles in national politics.

Scientific achievements are represented through Nobel Prize-winning astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar and fiber optics innovator Narinder Singh Kapany. The business section features global leaders including Sundar Pichai, Satya Nadella, and Indra Nooyi, whose leadership has influenced some of the world’s largest corporations.

The project also traces the growing impact of Indian culture in America. It documents milestones in yoga, cuisine, and the arts, recognizing individuals who introduced authentic Indian traditions and flavors to American audiences. According to Indiaspora, the collection reflects not only the accomplishments of Indian Americans but also the enduring partnership between the community and the broader American story as the nation celebrates 250 years of independence.

The post Indiaspora Chronicles 250 Years of Indian American Impact first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
