Indian American Impact has congratulated Dr. Amish Shah on securing victory in the Democratic primary for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District, marking a significant milestone in his campaign for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The organization praised Shah’s grassroots approach, highlighting his efforts to connect directly with thousands of voters across the district. According to Indian American Impact Executive Director Chintan Patel, Shah’s campaign successfully resonated with voters seeking change and new leadership.

Patel said Shah has spent his career advocating for issues affecting working families, including reducing living costs, protecting immigrant rights, and addressing concerns related to extremism. If Shah wins the general election in November, he would make history as the first South Asian American to represent Arizona in Congress.

Indian American Impact played an active role in supporting Shah’s primary campaign, investing $250,000 in the race. The organization identified Arizona’s 1st Congressional District as one of the key opportunities for Democrats seeking to regain control of the U.S. House of Representatives.

The group said it plans to continue supporting Shah through the upcoming election campaign, viewing his candidacy as an important step toward increasing South Asian American representation in national politics.

Founded in 2016, Indian American Impact has become a prominent organization focused on expanding political engagement and representation among Indian and South Asian Americans across the United States. Over the years, it has supported more than 200 candidates nationwide through campaign assistance, grassroots organizing, voter outreach, and policy advocacy.

The organization has also helped mobilize significant financial resources, directing nearly $20 million toward candidates and civic initiatives aimed at strengthening the voice of the South Asian American community in American politics.

Shah’s primary victory reflects the growing influence of Indian Americans in U.S. public life, as members of the community continue to gain representation across government, business, healthcare, technology, and other sectors. His campaign now moves toward the November general election, where he will seek to secure a historic place in Arizona’s congressional history.

The post Amish Shah Wins Arizona Democratic Primary Race first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Indian Railways has reached a major milestone in its modernization journey, with 99.6% of its broad gauge network now electrified. The achievement places India among the world’s leading countries in railway electrification, with its rail system becoming the second-most electrified major railway network globally after Switzerland.

In a written response presented in the Lok Sabha, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the rapid progress made under India’s railway electrification programme. Since 2014, Indian Railways has electrified 48,072 route kilometres, surpassing the 21,801 route kilometres completed during the previous six decades. Electrification has also been incorporated into new railway line developments and multi-tracking projects to ensure future expansion remains aligned with clean energy objectives.

India’s progress in railway electrification has positioned it ahead of several major economies. The country’s electrification rate has exceeded that of nations such as China, where around 82% of rail networks are electrified, Spain at 67%, Japan at 64%, France at 60%, and the United Kingdom at 39%. This rapid transformation highlights India’s growing focus on efficient and environmentally sustainable transportation systems.

The shift toward electric traction has delivered significant operational and environmental benefits. Rail transportation produces considerably lower carbon emissions compared with road-based movement. According to NITI Aayog, railways generate approximately 11.5 grams of carbon dioxide per tonne-kilometre, making emissions nearly 89% lower than road transport.

Electrification has also helped Indian Railways reduce its reliance on diesel fuel. Diesel consumption for train operations declined from 293 crore litres in fiscal year 2016 to 108 crore litres in fiscal year 2025. The reduction represents savings of nearly 185 crore litres of fuel, helping decrease fossil fuel dependency and improving energy efficiency across the railway network.

To further support its clean energy transition, Indian Railways has expanded its renewable power capacity. By June 2026, the railway system had commissioned more than 1,260 MW of renewable energy capacity, including approximately 1,161 MW of solar power and 103 MW of wind energy.

Several railway zones, including Konkan Railway and Kolkata Metro, have already achieved complete electrification. With all 15 railway zones reaching full electrification, continued investments in green energy, technology, and infrastructure are expected to strengthen India’s energy security while reducing carbon emissions.

The electrification milestone reflects India’s broader commitment to sustainable mobility and demonstrates the country’s ambition to build a modern, efficient, and environmentally responsible railway network.

The post Indian Railways Nears Complete Electrification Milestone first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Indian companies invested nearly $15.9 billion in the United States between fiscal year 2022 and fiscal year 2026, highlighting the growing economic partnership between the two countries. The investment data was shared by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in Parliament.

According to the government’s statement, financial services, insurance, and business-related sectors attracted the largest share of Indian investments in the US, accounting for approximately $8.6 billion. Manufacturing followed with $3.6 billion, while community and social services received around $1.8 billion. Investments in agriculture and mining were comparatively smaller at about $15.8 million.

Indian entities invested more than $4 billion in the US during fiscal year 2026 alone, following investments of $3.44 billion in the previous financial year. The government said the growth reflects how Indian companies are expanding their international presence and improving their competitiveness globally.

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry noted that reforms under the Overseas Direct Investment framework have helped businesses explore opportunities abroad while contributing to India’s economic growth. Increased overseas investments have allowed Indian companies to build stronger global networks, access new markets, and strengthen their international operations.

The government also confirmed that discussions with the United States on bilateral trade matters are continuing. The engagement comes amid ongoing changes in US tariff policies, including possible additional duties on countries over concerns related to forced labor-linked goods.

India and the US had announced a trade agreement framework in February 2026, but subsequent tariff developments have kept negotiations and discussions active between both sides.

Meanwhile, the government highlighted progress under initiatives aimed at boosting domestic businesses and manufacturing. Under the Startup India Seed Fund Scheme, 219 incubators have been selected with approved funding of approximately $113 million, of which around $78 million had been distributed by June 30, 2026.

The Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes have also attracted significant investment, generating more than $28.5 billion in funding, creating over 1.4 million jobs, and supporting exports worth more than $181 billion since their launch.

The highest investments under PLI schemes came from high-efficiency solar modules, pharmaceuticals, automobiles, specialty steel, and large-scale electronics manufacturing.

The developments reflect expanding economic cooperation between India and the United States, with companies from both countries increasingly seeking opportunities through trade, investment, and manufacturing partnerships.

The post Indian Firms Invest $15.9 Billion in US Over Five Years first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Former NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant has emphasized that deeper engagement with the United States economy will be essential for India to achieve sustained high growth. He said a balanced and mutually beneficial free trade agreement (FTA) between India and the US could play a significant role in expanding trade, strengthening exports, and creating new economic opportunities.

Kant highlighted that several countries, including Japan, South Korea, and China, accelerated their economic development through strong partnerships with the US. He noted that greater access to the American market would help India enhance its global competitiveness and support long-term economic expansion.

According to Kant, the proposed India-US trade agreement must ensure benefits for both nations while creating a fair environment for businesses. He stressed that Indian exporters should receive competitive opportunities and should not face disadvantages compared with suppliers from other countries.

He also pointed out the importance of the US market, describing it as one of the world’s largest economies with significant influence on global demand. With the American economy valued at around $30 trillion, Kant said stronger economic integration with the US would provide India with greater opportunities to increase exports and attract investment.

Kant expressed support for India’s ongoing trade negotiations, saying the government is taking a careful and strategic approach to protect national interests. He added that patience and strong negotiation efforts would be important in securing an agreement that benefits both sides.

The comments come as India and the US continue discussions on strengthening bilateral trade ties. Officials from both countries have indicated progress toward a framework for a proposed trade agreement, with further discussions focused on finalizing terms and ensuring mutual advantages.

Earlier, India and the US reached an interim trade understanding after tariff discussions, with Washington agreeing to reduce certain tariffs on Indian exports. The development marked progress in efforts to improve market access and expand commercial cooperation between the two countries.

Kant’s remarks underline the growing importance of the India-US economic partnership and the potential role of a comprehensive trade agreement in supporting businesses, increasing global integration, and driving future growth for both economies.

US Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha Vance have announced the arrival of their fourth child, a baby boy named Alec Neel Vance. The birth marks a rare moment in American political history, making JD Vance the first sitting US vice president in more than 150 years to welcome a child while serving in office.

The couple shared the joyful news through a joint statement posted on social media, revealing that Alec was born on Sunday morning. They said both Usha and the newborn are healthy and doing well, while their three older children—Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel—are thrilled to meet their new baby brother.

The Vances also expressed gratitude to the medical teams at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and the White House Medical Unit for their care and support throughout the delivery.

The newest addition to the family aligns with JD Vance’s long-standing public stance encouraging higher birth rates in the United States. Since entering national politics, the vice president has frequently voiced concerns about the country’s declining population growth. During his speech at the 2025 March for Life rally in Washington, he reiterated his belief that America should welcome more children, making family growth a recurring theme of his public messaging.

Vance has also indicated that the 2025 death of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, a close friend, influenced the couple’s decision to expand their family.

Throughout his tenure as vice president, JD Vance has often traveled internationally with Usha and their children, offering the public a glimpse into their family life. Usha Vance, the daughter of Indian immigrants, has attracted growing public attention in recent years. Her pregnancy, first announced in January, generated widespread interest because births among families of senior White House officials during their time in office are uncommon.

According to historical records from the White House Historical Association, the previous sitting vice president to welcome a child while serving was Schuyler Colfax in 1870. Before that, John C. Calhoun became a father during his vice presidency in 1829.

The Vance family’s announcement also comes during a period of several high-profile births among members of President Donald Trump’s administration, adding to what observers have described as a notable baby boom within senior White House circles.

The post JD and Usha Vance Welcome Fourth Child first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

With this launch, India will join a select group of nations, including Germany, Japan, China, and the United States, that are developing hydrogen-based rail solutions.

The hydrogen-powered train will operate on the Jind-Sonipat route, which has been selected as the pilot corridor for the project. The initiative represents a major advancement for Indian Railways and reflects its focus on innovation, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible transportation. The project also aligns with India’s broader clean energy strategy and long-term goal of reducing carbon emissions.

To support the train’s operations, an advanced hydrogen storage and refueling facility has been established in Jind. The facility has received approval from the Petroleum and Explosives Safety Organisation (PESO) for storing and dispensing compressed hydrogen gas, ensuring compliance with required safety standards.

Hydrogen fuel cell technology works by producing electricity through a chemical reaction between hydrogen and oxygen. Unlike traditional fossil fuel-based systems, the process releases water vapor as the only emission, making it a cleaner alternative for railway operations. Globally, hydrogen-powered transportation is being explored as a potential solution for reducing emissions in sectors that require high energy consumption.

The new train system includes a hydrogen compression setup designed to support efficient refueling operations. Indian Railways has also arranged essential technical support, spare components, and backup systems to maintain reliable and safe functioning. A standby compressor unit is being provided to ensure uninterrupted operations.

Safety remains a key priority for the project. The hydrogen production, storage, and dispensing facilities have been equipped with advanced monitoring systems, including hydrogen leak detectors and flame detection technology. These systems will undergo regular inspections and maintenance to ensure safe performance.

The government has also established detailed operational guidelines for the hydrogen train and its supporting infrastructure. Maintenance procedures at the Shakurbasti facility will include regular audits, safety checks, and strict operating protocols. The hydrogen refueling system will be monitored continuously, with trained personnel responsible for handling critical operations.

The launch of India’s first hydrogen-powered train highlights the country’s growing focus on green mobility solutions. The project is expected to serve as a foundation for future hydrogen-based railway developments while supporting India’s transition toward cleaner energy and sustainable transportation.

The post PM Modi to launch India’s first hydrogen train first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Jaishankar outlining the country’s vision for a more balanced and effective global order. Speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, Jaishankar said India remains committed to promoting international peace, fairness, and stronger representation for developing nations.

The campaign centers on the theme “SHANTI,” which stands for Securing Holistic Advancement through Norms, Trust, and Integrity. According to Jaishankar, this approach reflects India’s commitment to strengthening multilateral cooperation while addressing today’s most pressing global challenges.

During his address to diplomats and UN representatives, Jaishankar said India would work toward ensuring that the concerns of the Global South receive equal attention in international decision-making. He stressed that global institutions must evolve to reflect present-day realities rather than continue operating under outdated structures.

The minister also highlighted several priority areas for India if elected. These include improving the effectiveness of UN peacekeeping missions, strengthening maritime security, preventing terrorism by disrupting its financial and logistical support, encouraging responsible use of emerging technologies, and advancing climate action alongside sustainable economic growth.

India’s campaign comes as international tensions continue to shape global politics, including conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. Against this backdrop, the country believes the United Nations must become more responsive and capable of addressing modern security challenges through meaningful cooperation among member states.

The election for the Asia-Pacific seat on the Security Council is scheduled for June next year. India will compete against Tajikistan for the region’s single available non-permanent seat. If successful, it would mark India’s ninth tenure on the Security Council, following its most recent term in 2021-22.

India also reiterated its long-standing demand for broader reforms to the Security Council. New Delhi has consistently argued that expanding only the non-permanent membership would not resolve the imbalance in decision-making, which continues to be dominated by the Council’s five permanent members. Officials maintain that reforms should include both permanent and non-permanent categories to create a more representative institution capable of addressing today’s geopolitical landscape. India has repeatedly urged UN members to accelerate negotiations and avoid procedural delays that have slowed reform efforts for decades.

The post Jaishankar launches India’s 2028-29 UNSC campaign first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The trials focused on astronaut safety features, separation mechanisms, and structural performance required for a successful space mission.

The first test evaluated the Crew Module Uprighting System, a crucial technology designed to help the spacecraft return to a stable upright position after landing in the ocean. The system uses stored cold-gas technology and plays an important role in ensuring astronaut safety during the recovery phase after splashdown.

The second test examined the separation process of the umbilical mechanism that connects the Crew Module with the Service Module. The Crew Module is designed to carry astronauts, while the Service Module provides essential support through power and propulsion systems during the mission.

The umbilical mechanism includes two separate units: CSU-1, located on the Crew Module side, and CSU-2, positioned on the Service Module side. During the spacecraft’s return journey, the Service Module separates from the Crew Module after the disconnection of CSU-1. The CSU-2 unit then separates shortly before the spacecraft begins atmospheric re-entry.

ISRO conducted a dedicated test to evaluate the separation of CSU-2 using a simulated Crew Module structure. The trial successfully demonstrated smooth detachment of the component while confirming that the Crew Module panel and related connection points maintained structural strength during the process.

The third test focused on verifying the Crew Module’s structural stability during the separation of the apex cover. This protective cover plays an important role during the mission by safeguarding the parachute systems and related equipment. It is removed before parachute deployment to allow the spacecraft to safely descend toward Earth.

These successful demonstrations represent significant progress in India’s ambitious Gaganyaan program, which aims to send Indian astronauts into space. By validating critical safety and operational systems, ISRO continues to strengthen the reliability of the spacecraft and move closer toward achieving India’s first human spaceflight mission.
