Since 2022, the country has added more than 100 new GCCs, reinforcing its significance in the global operations of multinational firms.

The GCC sector now occupies over 240 million square feet of Grade A office space across the seven largest cities in India. Bengaluru, often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of India,” is at the forefront, accounting for 42% of the total office space used by GCCs. The city’s booming tech scene, prestigious educational institutions, and diverse work culture make it an attractive destination for global talent.

This expansion emphasizes India’s increasing clout in the global business ecosystem. In the past 18 months alone, between January 2023 and June 2024, GCCs have leased a massive 35.2 million square feet of office space. Bengaluru, Hyderabad, and Chennai together accounted for 75% of this leasing activity, demonstrating the region’s appeal due to its advanced infrastructure, skilled workforce, and favorable business environment.

Three main industries dominate the GCC sector in India—Manufacturing, IT/ITES (Information Technology and Information Technology Enabled Services), and BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance)—which collectively hold 78% of the space occupied by GCCs.

Looking ahead, the outlook for India’s GCC sector remains bright, as GCCs represent roughly half of the active office space requirements in the country’s key cities. These centers are evolving from cost-effective back offices into innovation hubs, positioning India to play an even greater role in global digital transformation. With its vast talent base, robust infrastructure, and supportive government policies, India continues to strengthen its status as the world’s foremost destination for GCCs.

The two leaders have not had an official meeting in five years. This interaction comes after India and China reached an agreement to resume regular patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, signaling a step towards resolving long-standing tensions.

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri confirmed the scheduled meeting, emphasizing its significance in addressing bilateral concerns between the two nations. Modi last met Xi in October 2019 before the Galwan Valley clash in June 2020, which led to increased military tensions along the LAC.

Both countries have made progress towards resolving these issues, with Chinese officials confirming a resolution on the border conflict and ongoing diplomatic and military dialogues. The meeting is expected to focus on the recent border agreement, as well as trade relations between India and China. India’s Foreign Secretary highlighted that discussions have involved military commanders and diplomats, aiming to address unresolved tensions from 2020.

Trade is also a key topic of concern, as India’s trade deficit with China remains substantial. Modi is likely to push for a reduction in Chinese tariffs on Indian exports, aiming to balance the $120 billion bilateral trade, where India exports $20 billion and imports $100 billion from China.

The leaders’ previous meetings, including the Mahabalipuram Summit in 2019 and informal talks in Wuhan in 2018, focused on stabilizing bilateral relations and addressing regional issues. The upcoming meeting in Kazan is seen as a crucial step toward restoring peace along the LAC and ensuring long-term stability in India-China relations. Both countries have expressed commitment to resolving the border dispute and rebuilding diplomatic ties through continued dialogue and collaboration.

In its October monthly report, OPEC noted that India’s economic growth eased slightly to 6.7% year-on-year in the second quarter of 2024, down from 7.8% in the first quarter. This deceleration was mainly caused by a reduction in government spending during the election period. The services sector, which has made up an average of 54% of India’s economy since 2021, showed improved growth, accelerating to 7.2% year-on-year in the second quarter, compared to 6.7% in the first quarter. Additionally, the unemployment rate fell to 7.8% in September, down from 8.5% in August.

Despite the temporary slowdown, OPEC maintained its projection that India’s economy would grow by 6.8% year-on-year in 2024, consistent with its previous forecast. In 2025, the growth rate is expected to decelerate to 6.3% as it adjusts from the high base of 2024, aligning with last month’s prediction. India’s strong economic growth is anticipated to continue into the second half of 2024 as government expenditure resumes after the election-related cutbacks earlier in the year.

The Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party shared this request in a post on X, emphasizing the need for the telecom giants to brief the committee on the situation.

This initiative comes after an October 5 report from the Wall Street Journal revealed that the cyber attack had breached the networks of multiple U.S. broadband providers, potentially compromising systems related to court-authorized wiretapping requests. The report raises serious national security concerns, indicating that hackers may have gained extended access to vital network infrastructure.

A senior U.S. intelligence official, cited in The Washington Post, noted that such access allows the CCP to identify targets of interest to the U.S. government, potentially undermining intelligence efforts or spreading disinformation.

The hacking group believed to be responsible for this breach is identified as Salt Typhoon, which has ties to China’s Ministry of State Security. Earlier this year, the Select Committee also addressed threats from another Chinese hacking unit, Volt Typhoon, which had successfully infiltrated critical U.S. infrastructure.

The Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party was established to confront the challenges posed by the CCP to the U.S. and its allies. It investigates issues related to espionage, trade, technology theft, and human rights abuses, while also overseeing U.S. policies to ensure alignment with national security interests.

In light of these developments, the committee is urging prompt enhancements to U.S. cybersecurity strategies to effectively counter these unprecedented threats.

While some, like Elon Musk, are vocal about their endorsements, others, including Warren Buffett and Mark Zuckerberg, have chosen to remain silent, despite speculation surrounding their political leanings.

According to Forbes, 76 billionaires are backing Kamala Harris, while 49 have been identified as supporters of Donald Trump. Many more may yet pledge their financial support, but their contributions won’t become public until after the election when final reports from the Federal Election Commission are released in December.

Despite her criticisms of pro-billionaire policies, Harris has garnered support from ultra-wealthy individuals for pragmatic reasons. A letter from over a dozen billionaires endorsing her emphasized expectations for her to uphold “fair and predictable policies,” which promote economic stability. This approach resonates particularly with Silicon Valley billionaires who have known Harris since her tenure as a California prosecutor. A recent survey indicated that sectors such as technology, healthcare, and sustainability would likely thrive under a Harris presidency.

Among the billionaires supporting Harris, 28 have donated $1 million or more to her associated groups. Notable backers include Michael Bloomberg, former New York Mayor; Arthur Blank, Atlanta Falcons owner; Reid Hoffman, LinkedIn co-founder; Vinod Khosla, Khosla Ventures; Dustin Moskovitz, Facebook co-founder; and filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Additionally, 36 billionaires have contributed between $50,000 and $999,999, including fashion designer Tory Burch, Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings, Ripple co-founder Chris Larsen, and Laurene Powell Jobs of Apple fame. Prominent figures like Melinda French Gates and Joe Gebbia from Airbnb have also backed Harris financially, with high-profile endorsements coming from individuals like Mark Cuban and Magic Johnson.

On the other hand, Donald Trump has positioned himself as a champion of both the ultra-wealthy and working-class Americans, attracting considerable backing from 49 billionaires. Notable supporters of Trump include Miriam Adelson of Las Vegas Sands Corp., Don Ahern from Las Vegas construction, Diane Hendricks of ABC Supply, Linda McMahon from WWE, and Steve Wynn of Wynn Resorts. Another 16 billionaires have contributed between $50,000 and $999,999, including Houston Rockets owner Tilman Fertitta, Paulson & Co. founder John Paulson, and Siebel Systems founder Thomas Siebel. Trump’s billionaire supporters also include Elon Musk, who has actively campaigned for him, appearing at rallies and encouraging swing state voters through his political action committee.

While many billionaires have openly declared their support for either candidate, others are choosing to remain neutral for the time being. Jeff Bezos, the Amazon founder, praised Trump’s resilience following a personal incident but has not publicly endorsed a candidate. Warren Buffett, a known Democrat, has opted to stay quiet during this election cycle. Mark Zuckerberg reportedly had private discussions with Trump but has not yet endorsed anyone. Bill Gates, while not officially backing a candidate, expressed positive sentiments towards Harris in a July interview, highlighting her focus on artificial intelligence and its implications.

Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, has also refrained from endorsing any candidate, despite a false claim from Trump suggesting otherwise. Ray Dalio, founder of Bridgewater Associates, described the upcoming election as “the most consequential” of his life but has yet to endorse either Harris or Trump. Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, has kept his opinions private this election cycle after previously finding Trump’s election “deeply offensive.” Larry Ellison and Ken Griffin have similarly remained silent in the lead-up to the election, despite their past financial support for Republican causes.

As the election approaches, it’s likely that more billionaires will disclose their preferences and financial commitments.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Ramaswamy stated, “Shut down the entitlement state & you solve most of the immigration problem right there.” He argues that addressing the root cause attracting migrants to the U.S.—the welfare state—requires a candid discussion, which he feels is often avoided due to many native-born Americans being reliant on it themselves.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, responded to Ramaswamy’s tweet, affirming the truth in his assertion. Musk remarked that the social safety net provided by state and federal government payments serves as a strong incentive for individuals living below that standard to immigrate to the U.S. He further emphasized that combined with open borders, this situation would naturally lead to a significant influx of people seeking to enter the country, making it unrealistic to expect any other result.

Ramaswamy, 39, the son of immigrants from southern India, has consistently taken a firm stance on illegal immigration, a topic that has gained heightened emotional resonance in various Western nations. In April, he called for adherence to “the rule of law” and suggested using the military to enhance border security. He has also publicly opposed “birthright citizenship,” which grants citizenship to children born in the U.S. regardless of their parents’ immigration status.

Minita Sanghvi, a well-known advocate for equal rights and a respected community leader, has officially announced her candidacy for the New York State Senate. She is set to challenge the incumbent, Republican Senator Jim Tedisco, who represents the 44th District. Sanghvi has long been involved in local politics, driven by her passion for advocacy and social justice.

Her political journey is closely tied to her activism, particularly within the LGBTQ+ community. After coming out in 2002, Sanghvi fought against Arizona Proposition 107, which sought to ban same-sex marriage, and became a board member for both the Human Rights Campaign and the Guilford Green Foundation. These experiences deepened her engagement with politics as she began lobbying Congress for equal rights. Reflecting on her activism, Sanghvi remarked, “Advocacy for equal rights brought me into politics and ignited my desire to create change.”

Her public service expanded when she represented Indian concerns at City Hall in Greensboro and was appointed to a human relations commission. Upon moving to Saratoga Springs, she began her political career in earnest, serving five years on the Saratoga Springs Public Library Board of Trustees before being elected Commissioner of Finance in 2021.

Now, Sanghvi’s campaign for the state senate represents a pivotal step as she seeks to bring her voice as a woman of color and an LGBTQ+ advocate to Albany. As a Democrat, she aims to unseat Tedisco, who holds significant conservative support in the district. If elected, Sanghvi plans to focus on economic development, fostering community engagement, and ensuring equality for all. Her candidacy has garnered attention from Saratoga Springs’ diverse community and second-generation Indian Americans, who are increasingly stepping into the political arena.

During the launch event of the Observer Research Foundation’s (ORF) Foreign Policy Survey in the national capital, Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized India’s commitment to maintaining global friendships while prioritizing national security.

Shah highlighted the historical absence of a clear internal security policy in India until 2014, noting that any existing policies were overshadowed by the nation’s foreign affairs agenda.

Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, Shah asserted that India’s foreign policy objectives have become more defined, with an emphasis on safeguarding the nation’s security interests.

He reiterated India’s stance of fostering international friendships without compromising the safety of its citizens and territory, stressing that Modi has effectively communicated the country’s internal and external security policies to the global community.

Regarding border security, Shah emphasized its pivotal role in national security, emphasizing the government’s efforts to fortify borders through various measures, including enhanced connectivity and multidimensional policies.

Shah also highlighted the Vibrant Village Programme initiated by Prime Minister Modi, which aims to transform villages along India’s borders. The program, he noted, has instilled confidence among rural communities by prioritizing their development and ensuring the implementation of government schemes in border areas.
