India’s GDP growth is projected to remain steady at around 6.5%, following a strong performance of approximately 7.6% in the previous year. This positions the country as one of the fastest-growing major economies in the world.

The global economic environment remains challenging, largely due to geopolitical tensions such as conflicts in the Middle East, which have led to rising oil prices and increased inflationary pressures. These factors have resulted in slower growth projections for many emerging markets.

However, India’s economic outlook remains stable, supported by strong domestic demand, including robust consumption and investment activity. The IMF also noted that policy stability and economic reforms continue to play a crucial role in sustaining growth momentum.

Despite the positive outlook, certain risks persist. Rising crude oil prices could impact inflation and increase the country’s import burden, given its dependence on energy imports. Additionally, prolonged global uncertainty may pose challenges to sustained growth.

Standing 6’0” and weighing 285 pounds, Singh has built his reputation as a tough and determined interior lineman, having played across multiple college programs including Oklahoma Baptist University, Southern Connecticut State University, and UMASS.

In his most recent season, Singh showcased remarkable endurance by participating in 710 of 793 defensive snaps, an unusually high workload for a player in his position. His consistent presence on the field earned him All-Conference honors, along with invitations to both the FCS National Bowl and the Dream Bowl. He also led his conference’s interior defensive linemen in total tackles, highlighting his strong defensive contribution throughout the season.

Singh is widely recognized for his physical style of play, quick hand movement, and exceptional conditioning. Coaches describe him as a player who maintains intensity throughout the game and often becomes more effective in later stages. His ability to stay consistent under pressure has made him a valuable defensive asset and a standout among his peers.

His defensive line coach at Oklahoma Baptist, Tyler Roberts, praised Singh’s work ethic, calling him a committed athlete who constantly strives for improvement. Roberts also noted that Singh has the potential to transition into coaching in the future due to his understanding of the game and disciplined approach. Additionally, Olympic gold medalist and trainer Ato Boldon has observed significant improvement in Singh’s performance since beginning training with him, further boosting his development.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Singh’s journey carries broader significance. If he is drafted, he would become one of the first fully Indian-American players in NFL history, marking an important moment for representation in professional American football. Despite this, Singh remains focused on earning opportunities through performance rather than expectations, emphasizing determination and hard work.

As he continues preparing for pro days, scouting events, and combine training, Singh remains committed to proving himself at the next level. His focus is clear—earning a place in professional football through consistent effort and performance on the field.

A member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Daines met with senior Indian officials, parliamentarians, and business leaders to discuss trade, defense cooperation, and supply chain security.

During the trip, Daines held meetings with External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar and Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal. “I came to India to reaffirm our shared values and strategic partnership while supporting Montana’s pulse crop farmers,” Daines said. He expressed gratitude to Minister Goyal for considering farmers’ concerns and pledged to continue working with President Trump on this priority.

Trade was a key focus of the discussions, with Daines urging Indian officials to support favorable treatment for US pulse crops in future agreements. Montana, the nation’s top producer of lentils, peas, and chickpeas, views India—the world’s largest consumer of pulses—as a vital market. Daines also pushed for expedited progress in ongoing trade negotiations to achieve a fair and reciprocal bilateral trade deal.

Defense cooperation and regional security were other critical areas addressed during the visit. Daines highlighted growing US-India defense ties and the partnership’s role in maintaining a stable, open Indo-Pacific region. Discussions also covered securing supply chains and enhancing collaboration in strategic sectors.

US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor noted that the visit underscored the importance of consistent high-level engagement between the two countries. “We aim to take the partnership between our nations to the next level, and regular senior-level visits to India are essential,” Gor stated. He added that Daines’ meetings played a key role in advancing bilateral relations.

The visit follows Daines’ letter to President Trump advocating for favorable treatment of pulse crops in upcoming trade agreements. The trip reflects ongoing efforts by the US and India to deepen ties across defense, technology, and trade, while navigating sensitive areas like agricultural market access and tariffs.

The couple announced the pregnancy on January 20, confirming that both mother and baby are doing well.

The Vances, the nation’s first millennial second family, currently have three children: 8-year-old Ewan, 5-year-old Vivek, and 3-year-old Mirabel. The couple has generally kept their children out of the public spotlight, emphasizing privacy while serving in public office. “We’re very happy to share some exciting news. Our family is growing!” Usha Vance wrote on X.

No previous wife of a sitting vice president is believed to have given birth while her husband held office. Historically, the last presidential spouse to give birth while in the White House was Esther Cleveland, daughter of President Grover Cleveland, in 1893. First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, in 1963, delivered Patrick Bouvier Kennedy prematurely, who tragically passed away after two days.

During the announcement, the Vances expressed gratitude for the medical and support staff who help ensure the family’s well-being while allowing them to serve the nation. “During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors and staff who support our family,” they said.

JD, 41, and Usha, 39, met at Yale Law School and married in 2014. In prior interviews, Usha noted that while a fourth child had occasionally been discussed, she had initially been content with three. The family resides at the Naval Observatory in Washington, where the children have adapted seamlessly. “They have full run of the place and are really good sleepers,” Usha shared, noting that late-night guests do not disturb them.

Looking ahead, Usha has expressed a desire to one day return to Cincinnati, their former home, while maintaining a balanced life in the nation’s capital as part of the second family.

The post Usha Vance Expecting Fourth Child With JD first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Kwatra described the meeting as warm and insightful, emphasizing the growing importance of defense partnership in the evolving Indo-Pacific landscape.

These engagements follow a series of recent diplomatic interactions by the ambassador. Last week, Kwatra held talks with Jacob Helberg, the newly appointed US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs. The two exchanged views on expanding bilateral economic cooperation, exploring opportunities for a mutually beneficial trade agreement, strengthening the strategic trade dialogue, and enhancing collaboration in advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence. Kwatra congratulated Helberg on taking office and highlighted the potential to deepen cooperation in areas critical to both nations’ economic and strategic interests.

Kwatra also met with Representative Jay Obernolte, who chairs the House Science, Space, and Technology Research and Technology Subcommittee.
Through this extensive network, and under the Government of India’s PM POSHAN scheme, Akshaya Patra delivers nutritious mid-day meals — along with an additional morning nutrition program — to schoolchildren.

In a recent conversation, CEO Shridhar Venkat spoke about how the organisation blends deep mission-driven commitment with structured and disciplined systems.
He explained that the foundation’s expansion has been built on the principle of “selflessness with systems” — a guiding philosophy that fuels innovation while reinforcing accountability.

Venkat highlighted that frugal innovation has consistently shaped their approach. As an example, he mentioned the development of roti-making machines capable of producing tens of thousands of rotis per hour, designed to accommodate diverse regional food preferences across the country.

He also emphasised that transparency and strong governance have always been fundamental to Akshaya Patra’s ethos. Venkat recalled that during a challenging period in 2020, the foundation voluntarily commissioned a forensic audit by a Big Four firm — which concluded with no major financial irregularities.

Today, the foundation stands as more than just a provider of meals; it has evolved into a robust public–private partnership. While a significant portion of its support comes from the Indian government through the PM POSHAN scheme, it also relies heavily on contributions from corporate partners and individual donors.

Looking ahead, Akshaya Patra aims to expand its reach even more. By 2025, it hopes to provide meals to 3 million children every day — a target that aligns perfectly with its wider mission of ending classroom hunger throughout India.

As it celebrates its 25-year milestone, the foundation’s leaders express heartfelt gratitude to every volunteer, donor, government body, and community that has contributed to its progress — and reaffirm their ultimate goal: ensuring that no child in India is ever denied education because of hunger.

The post Celebrating 25 Years of Akshaya Patra Foundation first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

In a letter sent on Wednesday, the group cautioned that the administration’s current approach risks undermining US strategic priorities in Asia and driving India closer to rival powers such as China and Russia.

The letter highlighted India’s growing influence as a stabilizing force in the Indo-Pacific region through its role in the Quad alliance alongside the United States, Japan, and Australia. The lawmakers stressed that alienating India at this critical juncture could weaken US efforts to maintain regional balance and counter China’s increasing assertiveness.

All 21 signatories are Democrats, including prominent Indian-American representatives Ro Khanna, Pramila Jayapal, Raja Krishnamoorthi, Shri Thanedar, and Ami Bera. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers also endorsed the appeal, along with several other members from states with significant Indian-American populations. The letter, reportedly influenced by advocacy within the Indian-American community, emphasizes shared economic and cultural bonds that have historically strengthened the bilateral partnership.

Criticizing Trump’s 50 percent tariff on Indian goods, the lawmakers argued that these trade barriers have backfired — hurting Indian manufacturers while inflating prices for American consumers. They warned that the tariffs disrupt vital supply chains, threatening jobs and slowing innovation across key industries like semiconductors, energy, and healthcare.

They further noted that trade between the two nations supports hundreds of thousands of jobs. US companies rely heavily on India for affordable components and access to one of the world’s fastest-growing consumer markets, while Indian investments in the United States create thousands of new employment opportunities.

Calling for a policy reset, the lawmakers stated that escalating tariffs undermines innovation, competitiveness, and long-term cooperation. They also acknowledged India’s growing defense partnership with the US, including joint military exercises and efforts to secure global maritime routes.

Concluding their appeal, the lawmakers urged Trump to review his tariff strategy and prioritize continued dialogue with Indian leaders. They insisted that the future of US-India relations lies in “recalibration, not confrontation.”

The post US Lawmakers Urge Trump to Repair Ties with India first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Jaishankar extended his greetings to Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and the people of China on the occasion of the country’s founding day, marking the 76th anniversary of the People’s Republic of China. In his message posted on X, Jaishankar expressed hope for continued collaboration to stabilize and rebuild the ties between India and China. The founding day commemorates the proclamation of the People’s Republic of China by Mao Zedong on October 1, 1949.

Earlier this year in August, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited India for a two-day official engagement. During the visit, he met with EAM Jaishankar to discuss bilateral relations and the ongoing border issues. The Chinese diplomat also participated in a fresh round of Special Representatives dialogue on the boundary question with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and called on Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

During his discussions with Wang Yi, Jaishankar stressed the importance of progressing with the de-escalation process along the border. He highlighted that maintaining peace and tranquillity in the border regions forms the foundation for any positive momentum in India-China relations. “You, Excellency, will of course be discussing border issues with our Special Representative, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, tomorrow. This is very important because the basis for any positive momentum in our ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas. It is also essential that the de-escalation process move forward,” Jaishankar noted during his opening remarks.

The meeting was attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri and other senior officials, reflecting the high-level diplomatic engagement between the two nations. Jaishankar’s message on China’s founding day signals India’s commitment to stabilizing bilateral relations while continuing dialogue on sensitive issues, including the border. The gesture also underscores India’s emphasis on constructive diplomacy, regional peace, and the gradual rebuilding of trust with China, amid ongoing efforts to resolve longstanding border and strategic concerns.

The post Jaishankar Greets China’s Wang Yi, Signals Closer Relations first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

This development follows months of tension triggered by punitive tariffs imposed by former President Donald Trump and concerns over India’s purchases of Russian oil.

This week, a US delegation led by Assistant Trade Representative Brenden Lynch met with Indian negotiators in New Delhi. The discussions, described as “positive and forward-looking” by MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, marked the resumption of trade talks after nearly a two-month pause. Lynch held meetings with India’s chief negotiator Rajesh Agrawal and officials at the commerce ministry on September 16 to advance the ongoing negotiations.

The pause in negotiations had resulted from Trump’s decision to impose a 25% tariff on Indian goods linked to Russian oil imports, coupled with frequent criticisms by US officials regarding India’s ties with Russia. These actions created strains in bilateral relations not seen in the past twenty years. However, exchanges of positive messages between Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi this month set the stage for renewed engagement, with Trump praising Modi as a “great prime minister” and both leaders expressing confidence in concluding trade discussions.

Since March, India and the US have held five rounds of talks on the proposed trade agreement. Initial plans aimed to complete the first tranche by October, but US demands for unrestricted access to sectors like dairy, agriculture, and MSMEs clashed with India’s priorities. The Indian government emphasized that protecting farmers and small businesses would remain “red lines” throughout the negotiations.

The sixth round of talks, originally scheduled for August, had been postponed following US criticism of India’s Russian energy and defense purchases. The renewed discussions now focus on intensifying efforts for a mutually beneficial trade pact, reflecting a cooperative approach from both sides. US officials described the recent meetings as constructive, signaling optimism that an early agreement is within reach.

The post India-US Trade Talks Gain Momentum Towards Deal first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
