Designed as a theatrical presentation rather than a traditional annual recital, the production brings together nearly 80 performers representing multiple age groups, from young children to adult dancers. The show narrates the story of Lord Ganesha through an engaging blend of Bharatanatyam, original choreography, music, narration, and dramatic storytelling, creating a vibrant stage experience for audiences.

Months of rehearsals and collaboration have gone into preparing the performance, with students and instructors working closely to transform the creative vision into a full-scale production. The event showcases not only technical skill but also the teamwork, discipline, and dedication that form the foundation of classical dance training.

Beyond celebrating artistic achievement, “Gaanapathyam” reflects the broader values promoted by Pranavam School of Dance. Through its training programs, students develop confidence, creativity, perseverance, leadership, and a deeper appreciation for India’s cultural traditions. The institution views dance as a medium for both personal growth and cultural preservation.

Over the past 10 years, the school has evolved into a vibrant cultural center serving families across the community. In addition to teaching Bharatanatyam, it has created a welcoming environment where students build lasting friendships, strengthen their connection to their heritage, and participate in meaningful artistic experiences. Many families consider the school an important part of their cultural journey and community life.

As Pranavam reaches this milestone, the anniversary production serves as both a celebration of its accomplishments and a reflection of its future aspirations. By blending tradition with creative storytelling, the school continues its mission of introducing younger generations to the richness of Indian classical dance while inspiring them to become confident performers and ambassadors of their cultural heritage.

The event is expected to bring together students, families, and members of the Indian-American community to celebrate a decade of preserving Bharatanatyam and fostering cultural pride through the performing arts.

The post Pranavam Marks 10 Years with Dance Drama first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Addressing the India-Japan Joint Economic Forum in New Delhi, the Prime Minister said India remains the world’s fastest-growing major economy, recording a GDP growth rate of 7.7 per cent in the last financial year. He noted that sustained reforms and a commitment to continuous improvement have strengthened the country’s economic foundation and enhanced its global competitiveness.

PM Modi said the government’s reform agenda has focused on improving governance, simplifying taxation, and enhancing the ease of doing business. He added that India has introduced next-generation reforms while opening more sectors to private participation and providing targeted incentives to encourage domestic and foreign investments.

Highlighting opportunities for Japanese businesses, the Prime Minister said several sectors are benefiting from government incentive schemes, creating new avenues for investment, technology partnerships, and industrial collaboration in India.

Referring to the annual survey conducted by the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, PM Modi said India has been ranked as the most promising destination for Japanese businesses for four consecutive years, reflecting growing investor confidence in the country’s economic potential.

The Prime Minister also underscored the strategic partnership between India and Japan, stating that both countries have agreed to expand cooperation in critical areas including economic security, artificial intelligence, defence, healthcare, and advanced technologies.
Calling on industry leaders from both nations, PM Modi urged businesses to convert the strong policy framework and strategic alignment between the two governments into meaningful investments, innovation, and economic outcomes that would further deepen the India-Japan partnership.

Although they represent just a little over 1% of the US population, Indian Americans have built a significant presence across key sectors such as technology, healthcare, business, education, and government. Their rise over the past several decades reflects both the success of skilled immigration and the evolving multicultural identity of America.

According to US Census data from 2023, approximately 5.2 million people in the United States identify as Indian origin, making them one of the fastest-growing Asian communities in the nation. They account for around 21% of the Asian American population, highlighting their demographic strength. This growth has been driven largely by immigration reforms in 1965, which opened doors to highly skilled professionals from India, particularly in engineering, medicine, and research fields.

A major factor behind their success is education. Around 77% of Indian Americans hold a bachelor’s degree or higher, placing them among the most educated groups in the country. This strong academic foundation has translated into economic prosperity. In 2023, households led by Indian Americans recorded a median income of about $151.2 million (or $151,200), while individuals aged 16 and above earned an average of $85,300 annually, significantly higher than the broader Asian American average of $52,400.

Their influence is especially visible in the technology sector. Indian-origin leaders have risen to top positions in global companies, including Sundar Pichai at Google and Satya Nadella at Microsoft, symbolizing their dominance in Silicon Valley and beyond. This presence has also extended into entrepreneurship, research, and innovation-driven industries, further strengthening their economic footprint.

Politically, Indian Americans have also gained visibility. Leaders such as Nikki Haley and Bobby Jindal have served as governors, while others now hold seats in Congress and state legislatures. By 2024, Indian Americans accounted for five members in Congress and nearly 40 in state legislatures, making them one of the most represented Asian-origin groups in American politics. Their role is also becoming increasingly important in swing states and national elections.

From post-1965 migration waves to modern-day leadership roles, Indian Americans have transitioned from a small immigrant group to a powerful force shaping America’s future.

The post Indian Americans Rise as Powerful Force in US Society first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The discussions took place in Canberra during a meeting between India’s High Commissioner to Australia, Nagesh Singh, and Australia’s Education Minister Jason Clare. The two leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in higher education, skill development, and institutional partnerships, recognizing education as one of the key pillars supporting the growing relationship between the two countries.

According to the High Commission of India in Australia, both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing academic collaborations and creating stronger educational links that can further promote mutual understanding and long-term cooperation.

Education was one of several areas highlighted during a series of recent high-level engagements involving the Indian envoy. Earlier, Singh met with Australia’s Shadow Minister for Foreign Affairs, Ted O’Brien, where discussions focused on the expanding India-Australia partnership and identifying new opportunities to strengthen collaboration across shared strategic priorities. The meeting also underscored the importance of the strong people-to-people ties that continue to support bilateral relations.

Climate and energy cooperation also featured prominently on the diplomatic agenda. During talks with Australia’s Minister for Climate Change and Energy, Chris Bowen, Singh discussed ways to accelerate collaboration in renewable energy, clean technologies, climate action, and sustainable development. Both sides reiterated their shared commitment to building a greener and more resilient future through closer cooperation in environmental initiatives.

In another significant engagement, Singh met Speaker of the Australian House of Representatives Milton Dick at Parliament House in Canberra. Their discussions centered on the growing bilateral relationship, the importance of parliamentary exchanges, and the democratic values shared by both nations that continue to strengthen their strategic partnership.

The recent meetings build on the momentum generated earlier this year when India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in New Delhi. During the ministerial dialogue, both countries reviewed progress under their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership while discussing cooperation across economic development, renewable and nuclear energy, maritime security, defense, science and technology, cybersecurity, critical minerals, space, and sports. The ministers also exchanged views on developments in the Indo-Pacific, West Asia, and other key regional and global issues, reaffirming their commitment to further expanding cooperation across multiple sectors.

The post India, Australia Deepen Education, Strategic Partnership first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Speaking at the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Leadership Summit, the California lawmaker said the long-term success of the partnership should be built on principles such as freedom, human dignity, and self-determination.

Addressing an audience of business executives, government officials, and policymakers, Khanna said cooperation between the two democracies should extend beyond economic and strategic interests. He argued that both countries have an opportunity to work together in promoting peace, protecting democratic ideals, and addressing global challenges that affect humanity.

The congressman also used his remarks to criticize President Donald Trump’s foreign policy, saying the current administration had weakened America’s relationships with allies. According to Khanna, future US leaders will need to rebuild trust internationally and restore the country’s global credibility through stronger diplomatic engagement.

Comparing different approaches to foreign policy, Khanna praised former President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s commitment to democracy and self-determination. He said the United States has historically supported freedom, human rights, and decolonization, values that have attracted generations of immigrants seeking better opportunities.

Immigration policy was another major focus of his speech. Khanna argued that restrictive immigration measures could limit the country’s ability to attract highly skilled professionals, particularly in rapidly advancing sectors such as artificial intelligence. He noted that a significant share of leading AI researchers were born outside the United States or earned their degrees abroad, stressing that welcoming global talent remains essential for maintaining American leadership in emerging technologies.

Looking ahead, Khanna expressed confidence in the Democratic Party’s political prospects, predicting electoral gains in the coming years. He said the United States has repeatedly demonstrated its ability to recover from periods of political division and emerge stronger through democratic institutions.

Reflecting on his own background as an Indian American and a practicing Hindu, Khanna said his views have been shaped by both his family’s connection to India’s independence movement and America’s long tradition of expanding civil rights and democratic freedoms. He believes these shared values should continue to serve as the foundation of US-India relations.

Representing California’s Silicon Valley since 2017, Khanna has consistently supported stronger cooperation between the United States and India in innovation, artificial intelligence, and advanced technologies, while remaining one of the Democratic Party’s most vocal critics of several Trump administration policies.

The post Ro Khanna Urges Values-Based US-India Partnership first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Juster. Addressing the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) Leadership Summit in Washington, Juster described these human connections as the “secret sauce” that has helped both countries maintain strong ties despite occasional diplomatic challenges over the decades.

Reflecting on the long-standing relationship, Juster said the partnership stretches back centuries, well before the modern era of strategic cooperation. He pointed out that the United States established diplomatic missions in Calcutta in 1792 and Madras in 1794, making India one of the earliest destinations for American diplomatic engagement outside the country. He also noted that the US established formal relations with India’s interim government in September 1946, months before India officially gained independence.

Juster explained that bilateral ties accelerated following India’s economic reforms in 1991 but faced a temporary setback after the country’s nuclear tests in 1998. However, diplomatic discussions between senior officials from both nations helped rebuild trust, ultimately leading to President Bill Clinton’s landmark visit to India in 2000. He said this period laid the foundation for a much stronger strategic partnership.

Successive US administrations continued to expand cooperation with India. Juster highlighted the civil nuclear agreement and technology collaboration under President George W. Bush, India’s designation as a major defense partner during Barack Obama’s presidency, the revival of the Quad and the launch of the 2+2 ministerial dialogue under President Donald Trump’s first administration, and the elevation of Quad meetings to the leaders’ level during President Joe Biden’s term.

He added that the current US administration is focused on enhancing defense cooperation, energy security, and concluding the first bilateral trade agreement between the two countries. Trade has already grown significantly, increasing from $19 billion in 2001 to nearly $250 billion today. Both governments are now aiming to expand bilateral trade to $500 billion by the end of the decade, with a comprehensive trade deal expected to support that goal.

Juster emphasized that collaboration now extends across defense, healthcare, education, science, technology, agriculture, energy, investment, space, and counterterrorism. He also praised the contributions of more than 5 million Indian Americans, saying their influence has strengthened the partnership in countless ways. His remarks came ahead of the launch of USISPF’s commemorative book, We the People: 250 Voices That Have Shaped the U.S.-India Relationship, which celebrates the individuals whose efforts have shaped the enduring friendship between the two democracies.

The post People-to-people ties key India-US bond: Former US Envoy first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

Her decision reflects a lifelong emotional bond with her homeland and a desire to reconnect with the place where she was born and raised.

Kondragunta Mahalakshmamma, a resident of Chintagumpala village in Bapatla district, had moved to the United States years ago to live with her son following the passing of her husband. During her time abroad, she became a naturalized US citizen. However, despite settling overseas, she continued to feel a strong attachment to India and longed to return to her roots.

As she entered the later years of her life, Mahalakshmamma expressed a heartfelt wish to spend her final days in her hometown. She also shared her desire for her last rites to be conducted in her native village, believing that ending her life’s journey in her homeland would bring her peace and fulfillment. Her request was formally submitted to the Bapatla district administration.

Following her appeal, local authorities initiated the necessary legal and administrative procedures required for restoring her Indian citizenship. After completing the required formalities, her application was approved, allowing her to once again become an Indian citizen.

The official citizenship restoration ceremony was held at the Bapatla Collectorate, where the District Collector administered the oath of allegiance and presented Mahalakshmamma with her Indian citizenship documents. The occasion marked the successful completion of her long-awaited journey back to the country she always considered home.

Her story has resonated with many people, highlighting the enduring emotional connection that members of the Indian diaspora often maintain with their homeland, regardless of how many years they spend abroad. It also illustrates that for some individuals, cultural identity, family roots, and a sense of belonging remain deeply significant throughout life.

Overall, Mahalakshmamma’s return symbolizes more than a change in citizenship. It reflects a personal journey driven by love for one’s birthplace, demonstrating that home can continue to hold profound meaning even after decades spent in another country.

The post 94-year-old returns to India, gives up US citizenship first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

The meeting brought together senior government officials and leading industry representatives from both countries, highlighting the growing importance of collaboration in emerging technologies.

The discussions were centered on building a stronger and more resilient ecosystem for advanced technologies, particularly in AI development and chip manufacturing. Officials emphasized the need to improve investment conditions, reduce supply chain vulnerabilities, and create stable demand signals that can support long-term cooperation between the two nations. The dialogue also explored opportunities for deeper collaboration in both foundational AI systems and practical applications across sectors.

The Indian Embassy in Washington described the engagement as a step toward “securing the foundations of AI together,” reflecting the shared goal of building trusted and secure technological frameworks. The roundtable included participation from senior representatives such as India’s Ambassador to the United States, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, senior officials from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, and US government representatives from commerce and energy departments, along with industry leaders working in semiconductors, AI, and critical minerals.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of aligning policy and innovation strategies to support responsible deployment of advanced technologies. Both sides acknowledged that AI development must be balanced with security considerations, especially as these systems become increasingly integrated into critical infrastructure such as power grids and communication networks.

In parallel, ongoing high-level discussions between the two countries have also focused on the controlled release and regulation of advanced AI models developed by leading global firms. These conversations reflect a cautious but collaborative approach aimed at ensuring that frontier technologies are deployed safely while still encouraging innovation and accessibility.

Officials from both countries reiterated that the partnership is built on trust and shared strategic interests. While discussions involve sensitive national security considerations, there is a mutual understanding of the need to continue cooperation in a structured and gradual manner.

Overall, the engagement reflects the deepening India-US technology relationship, with both nations working together to shape the future of artificial intelligence while ensuring security, stability, and responsible innovation.

The figure places him second globally among chief executive officers, behind Tesla chief Elon Musk, whose compensation package remains significantly larger.

Mitra serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Welltower, a major healthcare-focused real estate investment trust and a constituent of the S&P 500 index. His compensation package is considered one of the largest awarded to a public company CEO in recent years and highlights the growing emphasis companies are placing on long-term performance-based incentives.

A substantial portion of Mitra’s compensation is tied to company stock awards rather than direct salary payments. Reports indicate that nearly all of his earnings package stems from equity grants designed to align executive rewards with shareholder value creation. A major stock grant awarded during the year accounted for the overwhelming majority of the package, with the value of the underlying shares exceeding $1 billion by the end of the reporting period.

The structure of the award is designed to encourage long-term leadership and performance. Approximately half of the shares are expected to vest in 2031, provided Mitra remains with the company. The remaining portion is linked to ambitious performance targets, including significant growth in Welltower’s market value and the company outperforming major stock market benchmarks over a multi-year period.

Mitra joined Welltower in 2016 and quickly advanced through the organization. He was appointed Chief Investment Officer in 2018 before being elevated to the roles of CEO and Vice Chair in 2020. Company leadership has previously credited him with helping strengthen Welltower’s investment strategy and operational performance during a period of substantial growth.

Before joining Welltower, Mitra built a successful career in investment management, focusing primarily on real estate-related securities. He held senior positions at several prominent financial firms, including Millennium Management, where he managed investment teams specializing in commercial real estate analysis, portfolio construction, and risk management. Earlier in his career, he also worked at PricewaterhouseCoopers, Citadel Investment Group, and Fidelity Investments.

Born and educated in India, Mitra earned a degree in Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering from Jadavpur University before moving to the United States. He later completed an MBA in Applied Value Investing from Columbia Business School, laying the foundation for a career that has taken him to the highest levels of global corporate leadership.

The post Indian-Origin Executive Becomes World’s No. 2 Paid CEO first appeared on Global Indian News Network.

A recent report by Bain & Company and DSG Consumer Partners highlights the growing influence of these emerging players, often referred to as “insurgent brands,” across multiple consumer categories.

The report estimates that this ecosystem generated approximately $7.5 billion in revenue in FY25, a sharp increase from about $2 billion five years earlier. This growth reflects the accelerating shift in consumer preferences, driven by digital-first purchasing habits, evolving lifestyles, and increased exposure to niche and premium products.

Although these brands still represent less than 2% of most consumer segments, they are consistently outperforming established players by targeting unmet demand and offering highly specialized products. Their presence is especially strong in categories such as snacks, beauty and personal care, jewellery, home essentials, and wearable products.

Some of the fastest-growing segments include jewellery and beauty, where insurgent brands have expanded at nearly 6.5 times and six times faster than the broader market, respectively. These companies are gaining traction by focusing on differentiated offerings such as protein-enriched snacks, functional beverages, science-based skincare solutions, and ergonomically designed home products.

The rise of quick commerce platforms and digital marketplaces has further strengthened this momentum. Faster delivery systems, improved product discovery, and targeted online marketing have enabled these brands to reach consumers more efficiently and scale their operations at a much quicker pace than traditional retail channels.

Despite their strong growth trajectory, scaling remains a significant challenge for many of these businesses. The report notes that fewer than 1% of consumer companies founded after 2008 have crossed $12 million in revenue, while only about 22% have managed to grow beyond $60 million. This highlights the competitive and capital-intensive nature of the sector.

Still, the rapid rise of these new-age brands reflects the broader transformation of India’s consumer economy. Changing buyer behavior, increasing digital penetration, and a stronger focus on innovation are collectively reshaping the FMCG industry and creating new opportunities for entrepreneurial growth across the country.

The post India’s New-Age Brands Outpace FMCG Market Growth first appeared on Global Indian News Network.
